The Sun just posted a story on how chaotic today was, so it wasn't just Westwood.

You can't even look at their main page without paying now? WTF.

I can see the front page, haven't tried clicking on any articles though.
I go to it and all I get are 3 options to subscribe, with no way to click out of it to get to the front. It's a liberal oped like every other newspaper anyway, so fuck 'em.

You can try clearing your cookies or visiting in private/incognito mode. A lot of modern sites are wise to those tricks, though, and use some kind of browser fingerprinting to ID you, so it doesn't always work.

You can also try 12-Foot Ladder or with a browser extension like Reader Mode

Our SROs are carrying ARs.

I saw his vehicle, but no sight of him. Due to the construction and these temporary buildings, all grades are packed into a tiny area. Very limited places he can be if he wasn't outside or in the front office. Cafeteria or the clinic is about it. Does make me wonder.

I just saw the headline on twitter. I ain't paying for their crap.

1) Fuck those assholes who know require me to dial the area code for even local numbers. I always forget.

2) Really fuck all my neighbors. 3 weeks solid I've had to listen to hammering all day long because they're all getting new rooves. 1 after the other. One house gets finished and the next day it's a new house.

Fuck cities. Fuck them in their stupid asses.

We've had 10 digit dialing here for years. Was a pain at first, but I rarely call anyone and when I do their number is already in my phone.

We had 10 digit for local that were different area codes for a long time. But 10 digit for calling a place next door is irritating when it's not already in the phone

ugh that was such a pain in the ass when I did consulting in gainesville, wasn't it weird like you'd get that annoying error if you dialed the area code for north ocala but if you didn't dial it for south ocala you got that same error, like you were dumb for not knowing where their arbitrary long distance line was.

that is one thing kids now don't appreciate how easy it is to speak with people from all over. We used to have to write a letter or make an expensive phone call. :angrypan:

so the guy duct taped some stuff and its a little humid but my ac is running. Its old so I know I need a new one and its ordered but my cc is going to be like 11k next month lol

at least this one is like half the cost of the other quote I got from the other company.

putting off buying a new washer, I will use the one in the building like a poor for a while.

No kidding. My "first love", I was like 13. A friend a year younger than me lived down the dirt road from me and his 4 cousins (all girls) from Louisiana came to visit for the entire summer. The oldest was my age and each one a year or two younger. Watching them grow up, holy shit. God blessed those gals. Anyway, I had a thing with the one my age. Mom tried to keep an eye on us, but it was hard when we were all playing kick the can after dark.

To the point, that depressing end of summer came when they left. For like 6 months we wrote letters back and forth every week. I can still remember the scent of the perfume she sprayed those letters with

"Dating" at any age was so much better before the conveniences of cell phones and the internet. Maybe it's revisionist thinking or remembering only the good about stuff from when I was a kid, but it feels like it not having our modern conveniences made such things more real and valuable than today's society where dating and relationships are almost like burner phones.

It was 16k for my new HVAC system. Yay 0% financing

yeah kids today also seem to be able to keep up with their friends forever if they want - there are a lot of friends from college I've totally lost touch with and it would be fun to see how their lives turned out, like the guy we'd draw penises on his face when he passed out is probably a ceo or something lol

dang I feel better about my 6k, but makes sense since I'm in a condo not in FL

On that note, I'm about to have to do what I really didn't want to do. Get the kid a cell phone. The ex and I were on the same page about this, but after me telling her how fucked up the school pickup situation was and then her experiencing for herself where the cop directing traffic into the pickup loop yesterday told her that they're recommending parents tell their children to walk to Westside Park and have their parents pick them up there....she came to the same conclusion before I brought up. Gonna have to get her a cell phone.

Though most days I think she'll be riding the bus to my house soon. But WTF school...no security at all and now you're telling 11 year olds to walk a decent distance to an unsecure location. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I walked a mile home from school in kindergarten! :eg:

One plus on the cellphone deal, there are many trackers out there so you can see exactly where she is.

I walked a pretty long way at that age too, but it was out in the country.

Though I think we can agree on the difference between a boy and girl doing such things, especially today compared to 40 years ago.

The phone tracking though, I assume those are apps. I'm in a contract with verizon, I have no cheap way of adding her.

There are cheap plans on networks that piggyback on Verizon/T-Mobile that lare ike $15/mo for unlimited text/ phone and a bit of data like 5gb, just have to supply the phone. As long as I can install an app to track her, that's likely the route we'll go.

When my kids were younger, we had an app called Life360 on their phones. You could see where they are, where they were, and how fast they were driving.
