Not the worst line I've ever sat through, but even leaving 40 minutes prior to school starting (and it's typically only 5 minutes away), the efficiency left a little to be desired. Compounded by this middle school is now entirely in portables and other temporary buildings as they're about to demo the old buildings and reconstruct. So I'm assuming my kid will go through the next 3 years without seeing a real school.
And holy fuck were they disorganized. An entire summer that school had to get their shit in order and none of the staff did an adequate job. The orientation Monday. They give out maps of the portables, but all the room numbers were wrong as they listed the old buildings room numbers, not the new locations. None of the teachers had a syllabus or basic "you'll definitely need this for this class". Half the teachers struck me as morons. The language arts/english teacher was a loony woman who repeatedly called herself "the best teacher at Westwood" and how lucky the kids were to have her as a teacher, especially so if you have her twice (like my kid unfortunately does).
I've heard how terrible this school was for 15 years, saw some of it first hand with my ex step son when he was there 10 years ago. It hasn't gotten any better. Disorganized, unprepared, just pathetic. I'm assuming I'll be spending quite a bit of time teaching my daughter what they should have.
Side note - I do love, while trying not to get her in trouble, teaching my daughter factual history. Not the lies accepted as the official narrative of history.
