📺Television Movie/tv thread

Zone of Interest - #2 on HBO most popular. The description is a nazi tries to make a nice home near camp

WTF. 20 minutes, I'm not sure a word is spoken. I skipped around...half way through the movie, NOTHING happened. Some soldiers said happy birthday. The servant tried on the owners mink coat. He got a birthday kayak from his family. There's very little talking, it has a lower budget than Clerks, and there is zero fucking point....this is what the Polish call movie or art?

Maybe it gets to a point or something happening somewhere in the movie, but it's not in the first hour. Dumbest thing I've ever seen.

lol is this a euro production or US?
Euro. I've seen some low budget euro films before that were like this, they look like camcorder shit from the 80s in America. But the real point is nothing is happening in the movie. Nothing. There's zero point to it. It's like following around a normal guy in his daily life. Watch him drink his coffee, put on a shirt, ask his kids what he's doing. It's odd at best

Yeah it’s very artsy to just show people sitting around and presumably feeling things.

I end up watching a lot of stuff from 2006-2015 which seems to be the apex of civilization

I’m about to go on a reading bender, not much worth watching, except last 2 episodes of Shogun, & rest of Parish, and too many good books on my Kindle

a lot of times i just want to putter around with an audiobook and leave the tv off.
I can't do that. I turn on an audio book while I'm doing chores or whatever, I get distracted or zone out and miss half of it. I think driving is the only time I can listen to an audiobook unless it's a rare migraine like situation where I can't watch tv, but need distraction.

Yeah my husband hates them, he can't concentrate on them either. I like them, but a lot of times it will be a book I've already read or seen a tv adaptation of. Some I'll relisten to. The right narrator can enhance the story, like the Red Rising audiobook series.

That's the real tricky part. I've listened to samples of tons of them and the narrator immediately kills it for me most of the time. Terrible voice, no inflection where it should be applied....just monotone crap.

There is a guy named George Guidall that did most of the books in Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series. He is awesome. One or 2 of the books were done by someone else and it was really off putting.

Same with the Reacher books...Out of 28 Jeff Harding did like 25. He is really good too.

I'm really enjoying Shogun. Is Parish worth watching?
Definitely.

1500s Japan was BRUTAL, told my Japanese SIL if he’s ever not nice to my daughter, Shogun will pale in comparison to what I’ll inflict on him. He visibly paled, my daughter had to tell him I was kidding

It's kind of awesome though. Think about it....if your wife is a real bitch, instead of having to pay her alimony and child support, you can just have her kill herself.

Listening to Timcast discuss the Civil War movie. It's made my liberals claiming to be moderate and giving a "realistic" scenario of a possible civil war and how the country breaks up.

But....Trump is President basically. All the violence the characters encounter come from rednecks or someone similar. The SEAL they deploy is a skinny woman.

It's supposed to be apolitical, but liberals are all peaceful hippies or some shit and the country has no SEALs left to deploy
