Can’t say enough how good Apple+ shows are. They dont have a ton of content compared to some of the others, but it’s all quality, and a lot of stuff that would appeal to the people of TGB.
Just finished the first season of For All Mankind. Really well done show about the space race with Russia being the first to land on the moon, and the ensuing race to put a base and mine it.

Is it just me, admitting I'm ignorant about the possible outcome, but does it seem on the surface that mining the moon orbiting us, affecting our tides, etc. is a pretty terrible idea?

mining isn’t going to change the mass enough to impact the tides. It does present a lot of safety and logistical issues that aren’t present in normal mining. I don’t think it makes any sense if the same material is readily available on earth

People in general have such outdated perceptions of mining; with modern technology it’s very safe for worker and the environment. It’s nimby nonsense western nations don’t mine in their own countries and outsource it to places where kids are mining in unsafe conditions

Oh I know, I just can't help but wonder if something could go terribly wrong. Maybe that just means one accident that cost a lot of lives. How do safety procedures working in a mine on earth translate to the moon? Do we end up in a space war or ground war over mining the moon with China/Russia?

You oughta read "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Heinlein.

I said mining is going on in the show, but its ice/water that they are after

Well they've only tossed around 27 other spinoffs. But overall, yeah....WTF story could they tell about him beyond the wall?

Prequels all make the most sense, anything with enough true source material from GRRM, not some other dipshit who will fuck it up
