đź“şTelevision ?House of the Dragon (HERE BE SPOILERS!)?

Oh, and I just found this browsing one of the subreddits, to address your complaint about the boar-hunting. According to GRRM, Game of Thrones didn't have the budget to do a big royal hunting party:

Though I gotta be honest, I don't recall that the book had any hunting scene in it, either. That part was from Ned Stark's point of view - Robert went on a hunt and then he came back mortally wounded.

That’s right. I did notice the fingers and then almost immediately forgot about. He’s not a likable character. Like the Hound told Beric (SP?)…”God you’re dull. you’re not a bad guy. I don’t hate you. I don’t like you either”.

I don’t know if it’s the actor or the character just being kinda…meh. Not a bad king, not a good king. Not very bright, but not stupid either.

Daemon is so arrogant and prideful he takes on the whole enemy's army, alone, before accepting his brother's help.

I like him.

I’ve seen in him in lots of other stuff and he’s a very good actor. It’s possible he’s phoning it in though like people did in the crappy Star Wars movies of the mid oughts

Great scene. It was absolute defiance. Rather die than to have to thank that bitch ass bro's help. Half bro, right? Isn't Daemon a bastard...or maybe new wife?

The stupid part is, he killed all those guys by himself, some with an arrow or two in him. So why exactly didn't the entire army storm the caves a long time ago instead?

From the best I can tell, every battle in GOT or this has someone who is absolute shit at strategy planning it. At least, the ones that were played out on screen. Stannis at Blackwater was the best strategic planned and would have been successful if not for the wildfire. But the rest were all, "WTF? There are better ways".

Or it's possible he's absolutely nailing the character, but I didn't read the books, so I wouldn't know. I can only view it as a show watcher.

Yeah I said that after the first episode. We were given the impression that Targs were all pretty, men or women. I don't know if he needs to be femme...Raeghar didn't sound femme at all, obviously aegon wasn't. Just..."pretty".

So is this bad casting or is the 5 o'clock shadow and rough look of this guy intentional....to show he's aloof, not a well put together Targ?

Loved seeing that kid kill that asshole.

Daemon is a tricky bastard.

That knight that fucked Rhaeynara is fucking stupid. As a knight of the King's Guard he can get his end wet anywhere and not risk losing his life.

For an episode that basically only featured 5 or 6 people, it was pretty entertaining.

That's an interesting situation. He's breaking an oath on one hand, on the other he's obeying his Princess' and future Queen's orders. Doesn't he get a pass for that? Or a pardon from her at least?

He might get a pass from the princess, but doubt it would mean anything as long as Viserys is still king.

Well unless there was a spy, moot

My daughter is watching GOT for the first time right now. She got to the Red Wedding last night. She turned it off and said she quits.

You know, I think that highlights what's missing from this new show. In Game of Thrones, we had a side to root for so when there were moments like the Red Wedding, or Ned Stark getting executed, it was really shocking. So far, I still don't care about anyone - who is the hero of this story? Who's the villain?

Yes, I know Aegon II is supposed to be "worse than Joffrey" when he gets older, but so far, the only character who has been hinted at as being a bad guy is Daemon. He seems more of a devilish rogue than evil, though. In GoT, we knew the Starks were the good guys and the Lannisters were the bad guys from the very first episode.

True.

Not only is there no one to really root for, there isn't anyone to root AGAINST either.

Fair point.

Although shit, I read Doc's spoiler. So I guess reading that about the kid, that makes the entire show pointless of who wins because in the end.....

yeah that's why it was a such a sad fuck, you know he'll lose his head for it.

its just a creepy show without the redeeming qualities as Doc mentions. Kudos for holding off the orgy to ep 4.

also when did the targareans start marrying each other? Was it before this show's time? If so couldn't the uncle marry her? Oh Fish, where art thou?

They said in the show that Targs had been marrying each other for generations. I presume they stopped the practice because Westeros in general frowned upon it.
