🤬Bitch Bitch thread

Mother fucking fuck.

Homeowners insurance going up yet again. Slight increase in property taxes. Monthly escrow payment goes up nearly $100 for the 2nd year in a row.
I’ve been changing my insurance just about every year. Still goes up, but it seems like once they have you, they put the screws to you because they expect people to just renew. May want to get some quotes. If you do switch, you’ll probably need a 4 pt inspection, those are usually $100-$125, but well worth it if you can save $1k.

Yeah I'm going to start looking once I knock some stuff out for work.

I'm also assuming the 2 hurricanes and all the claims have something to do with that big of a jump since the last statement in the summer.

Get some quotes, they bank on people not wanting the hassle
Right now I'm seeing Progressive as among the cheapest. Gonna get a quote and if it's good enough, I'll bundle since my auto is with them.

I switched to Nationwide 2 years ago because the previous kept going up. That lasted a whopping year before they started raising it again.

South Florida is an insurance hellhole. Before USAA started writing new policies in Florida again, we were stuck with whatever no-name insurance company thought they could make a stand, only to drop out. This happened year after year, and it was impossible to find one of the big names to write a policy here, until I discovered that USAA came back to the state.

They're a bit more expensive than the cut-rate insurers but I know they aren't going to disappear if the shit hits the fan.

Ran through the get a quote for Progressive. Slightly better coverage for just shy of half the price. Of course I'm sure that'll go up year by year, but for now, I'll take it. Maybe my grocery bill will go back down by the time it raises

Fuuuuck. I have no copy of the boundary survey for my house and no one (licensed and insured) will even bother giving me a quote on replacing my privacy fence without one.
Can you get it from the county or city? I was able to do that when I put my fence in using the previous survey the county had on file.

Nothing on file to get here as far as I'm aware (or so says my boss, the engineer who works with the city/county and their records regularly  )

The only survey was done when the neighborhood was built, late 70s. The best I have on public record is a plat of the neighborhood, but it shows ROW widths and the dimension from the center of ROW to my property line, so that should be sufficient. Or it better be, because that's all I could find and I'm not paying for one. But it is one of the best plats I've seen as far as detail, usually the ones I've had to look up were dogshit.

So I’m supposed to speak in February in Iowa and there is one direct flight from Reagan and for an assigned seat, not even checking a bag it’s $800

I saw something about Prague and looked at tickets and round trip is $500 😭

Wow, no surveys since the 70's? I'm guessing you're not the original owner. There wasn't a survey done when you bought the place?

Hah...This house was built the year I was born, so naw. I've been here 13 years. A survey is supposed to be in the closing documents, but oddly there isn't one in mine. I never had one done. I refinanced a few years ago, so I can't be certain the previous owner didn't have a survey already that was included in the original closing docs, but.....I can't find them and my account with the last mortgage company no longer exists. I tried to login to see if I could get past info....Nope.

We drove everywhere as a family. As an adult....I've been too broke to take big trips or I chose to spend it on other stuff. Now I'm kinda too paranoid about being anxious and trapped on a plane with feeling like my only "escape" is to drink. Being sober sucks sometimes, I should have flown before I quit drinking

I'm actually still planning on flying next year with the kid. Next time I go to TN, for my parents 50th anniversary, I'm leaning towards the short flight to Asheville instead of driving 12 hours. Actually the drive is worse now because so much of I40 near my parents is completely gone from the side of the mountain, so everyone is driving through Cherokee/Gatlinburg, making the trip 3x longer in that region.

Took the kid to see Moana 2 yesterday. My God so many babies and toddlers. I don't think the 15 rounds I had were enough to take care of all the parents if they didn't get those little fucks under control when the movie started. They deserve it for even bringing them into a theater at that age. It wasn't too bad though until the end when a little fuck kept playing with the empty plastic nachos tray. The bitch ass dad, did he TAKE the tray from the kid? Nope, he kept asking the toddler to be quiet. Eventually I gave turned around and give him the death stare.

My insurance agent had concerns over my new Progressive quote. So she made changes to my current Nationwide policy. She managed to save me a whole $20/mo! $2000 in increases over 2 years and she saves me $20 like it's a favor. I had to email her back and told her I'm aware of the differences and I don't care. A high sewage backup coverage? Told her with my entire career in civil engineering, I know exactly what it takes and how rare it is for sewage backup to occur. I'll take $180 lower monthly escrow over worrying about sewage backup or a measly $10k of coverage on items if my house burns down. I also told her, because at this point of 3 back and forths of her trying to get me to spend more money is pissing me off, that we both know any insurance company will try to fuck me over and pay as little as possible if I ever make a climb and raise my rates anyway. So pending bills and affordable escrow is more important than a couple of extremely unlikely scenarios. Just do as I ask or I'll dismiss your services and do it myself.

I do not like progressive though. It may not be such a big deal for homeowners, but for car insurance they can put you in a bad spot, according to an accident attorney friend of mine. If you get in an accident and are sued, they will not settle out of court, forcing a court defense can put you personally liable.

On kids acting up in public, was in NY last weekend. Always European kids allowed to run wild in restaurants. Crawling all over everything, in the middle of walkways, is it just a different culture or are these just ass hole parents ignoring their children?

Another weird interaction in NY, was at a really nice restaurant, seated at a table with the family. The tables are really close together as one would expect there. Group of adults have to pass between my chair and one of theirs to get to their seat. Woman bumps me oddly, so I watched her. She has to pass by my son as well and as she is getting ready to sit in her chair she takes off her scarf. It almost hits my kid and she immediately looked at my wife to see if she noticed. I kept watching her, one of the people at my table notice me watching her. She then takes her jacket off and obviously hit my son on purpose and immediately looks at my wife and makes a big scene apologizing. My wife was oblivious to the whole thing until that point and starts to move my son's chair up. He wasn't really in the way, the group at the table before this group had no problem coming and going without issue, so I loudly said that he's fine, I watched her the whole time and that she did it on purpose.

Nothing else was said, but I could almost hear her trying to explain what happened later when my wife went to the bathroom. Wonder what the person in her party thought about it, as I know they got a gist of the situation. Really aggressive way to try to establish boundaries, it was hard for me to not react harsher with her fucking with my kid like that.

Most of the big auto insurers go through periods when they think it's time to fight more claims and then periods when they want to settle more claims. In Florida, State Farm is consistently the worst, though (or best, depending on your perspective) - they have a reputation for not settling anything.

I'd definitely had something.......Either directly to her or address her party to ask if she's always a petty, vile bitch who picks on kids.

Also, fuck NY.
