I really don't know what would be worse, having him finish the 4 years or him dropping dead and having Harris take over. I mean, neither of them are running the country, but I don't know which is a bigger embarrassment. Biden is either raging at someone or speaking gibberish. Harris just repeats the same 2 lines over and over as if giving instructions to a 5 year old.

On Monday, Harris said Biden was running in 2024 and she would be his running mate. Yesterday, she made a point of walking back to the press corps to correct her statement, saying in the event that Biden runs again, she’ll be his running mate. WTF, why the need to correction, guess she’s signaling her own candidacy?

and Biden has said that if Trump runs again, he'll run again.

The entire scenario is idiotic. I get it, admitting that Biden is too senile and to run for reelection is basically admitting that he's too senile to be President right now. But FFS, there's no shot in hell he's mentally capable of running in 2024. Also irrelevant because Biden could run unopposed and still lose at this point.

Harris is as equally blind. She's been exposed as a complete buffoon and from what I've seen, even most (rational) liberals agree she's awful.

The only chance the Dems have is to back off the far left woke and run a reasonable D. Not a Bernie socialist, not a woke retard who will say a man can get pregnant. What's funny is that the DNC sabotaged Bernie and then actively worked to shut down Tulsi for not towing the party line and keeping with the establishment. Joe was part of the establishment, yet went full blown woke when he took office. So I don't know WTF is the DNC's goal now.

A lot of heat on Gavin Newsom to run. He's bought a ton of airtime in Florida already. Dude will get absolutely demolished by Desantis if Newsom got through the primary. The Dems are listening to themselves too much to realize that their extreme left views are not close to what the average American wants.

Fuck, they're delusional. I don't have cable/dish, so I don't see commercials. I only listen to country radio, on occasion, so I'm not exposed to such stupidity. Yeah, not many Democrats, just the fringe lunatics, look at California and thinks "we should all be like that"

Gavin Newsom's record in California is horrific. DeSantis would eat him alive.

Beyond the excellent records on crime, economy, and general governance, Newsome represents the dynastic elitist enriching himself through public service that people loathe. Desantis has a net worth less than many of us, and recently helped support his wife through a bout with cancer.

I don't know about her, but Newsom seems to be exploring a primary run against Biden.

man i love reading this opinion :boner:

I assume you mean the EPA decision?

https://twitter.com/neontaster/status/1542523504074952705?s=20&t=fpx61eHsszRMVxVJFtRtJA

I mean, I kind of agree with Kagan that Congress is filled with idiots, but that doesn't mean agencies like the EPA can just do whatever they want.

I said that! Yes. I haven’t gotten to Kagan but remember she had no judicial experience, she’s an agency hack so will always believe they have a right to make up crap out of clear air

Thanks I’m here all week

I mean our government is set up so that congress has to pass a law for exec branch authority. It’s astonishing the dem response to this not just by idiots like AOC but Schumer who should know better. Compromise and update the clean air act or come up with something else. Screaming at scotus isn’t going to work you dum dildos

There's no easy answer. The right answer takes more time, coordination and effort. Congressman are experts in virtually nothing except law, politics, and being politicians who ignore the laws they learned in law school or politics. It's stupid to expect them to make decisions on things they know nothing about, they don't have the time or desire to learn about it, and then vote on those things. They already vote on enough shit without reading up on it. And let's be honest: It doesn't matter. They're going to vote largely with the party's stance on it anyway, so facts and knowledge of the subject mean nothing.

However, as you said, we can't just let agencies like the EPA govern themselves. Best case, the agencies come up with rules and regulations, brings them before Congress and it's voted on. Then the EPA has to live with the decision.

Members of congress and committees small staffs who are experts on specific issues (I’m friends with some), but it’s not much of a match to the size of the federal gov - 9 million vs 5000. This to me is a huge problem, because it’s impossible for congress to do oversight of everything, they have to pick and choose. The founding fathers couldn’t have anticipated this. Dems in congress are happy to give up their authority because they are largely funded by gov employee unions ( which we are all paying for!!) and pubs have not fought back as much as they should.

This one of trumps biggest accomplishments imo - fighting back against the admin state and making it a litmus test for other republicans. People are finally learning that more government = less freedom and worse everything

Agencies base rules on what congress allows them to do. Having them write laws for congress to vote on is wildly unconstitutional and a terrible idea. Congress shouldn’t pass a lot of laws, they should pass only the most important.

Government shouldn’t have as much power as it does

I thought most smart people knew that the government fucked up most things they touch. At least libertarians and most republicans do. Liberals, not so much.

But yeah, there was nothing in history that came close to the advances in technology and scale that we saw in just 100 years for the Founders to have predicted anything like this.

Well the government has all the power and they're not giving any back. And I don't mean agencies write laws for congress exactly, that was poorly worded. But if Congress or their staff have little to no expertise, suggestions have to come from somewhere. Instead of EPA doing whatever they want, they tell Congress what they want. Someone comes up with a bill to address it, here the proponents and opposition, and vote. I realize that's pretty idealistic and unrealistic. But the system is broken and it's not going to change. No one is learning from Trump or will have the balls he did. Desantis seems like he would based on his Florida policies, but who knows how it turns out if he gets in office.

Congress hires experts or asks for their help - I’m always happy to tell them what I think lol. It’s congresses job. They fund and have oversight of the federal government so they do actually have control.

The system isn’t broken, it’s been allowed too much leeway by lazy lawmakers.

Pushing back is hard, but I’m not aware of any republicans elected since trump who don’t make this federal government pushback a major part of their platform.

The Supreme Court is just starting. Their next session has more cases that will limit federal authority.

It’s been like 30 years of government growth. It will take a while to fix it. Reagan did, and future R presidents will too.
