The only explanation is his personal fear of AOC primary, not his party holding on to power.

The house, barring some black swan, is going R. The senate is far less clear for 2022, given the open seats and other factors. He’s giving a strategic advantage to Rs for no good reason other than his own senate seat - and screwing dems in swing states. Think of how McConnell navigated the kavanugh vote to allow moderate Rs to vote no to keep their seats, or Pelosi with some progressives on infrastructure. I can’t imagine Reid or Pelosi or McConnell ever doing something so fucking dumb.

Among results, it found more than 75% of participants supported a requirement to show a government-issued photo ID in order to vote, while support among Black residents was even higher at 79%.

“A majority of African Americans in Michigan support voter ID because they understand it is the surest way to validate a voter’s identification,” Christopher Arps, president of Americans for Citizen Voting, said in the release. “People who look like me know how important the vote is, and we want to protect it.”
 
Yeah the Rs are considered tin foil hatters for saying there’s election fraud but their are actual cases that can be pointed to where it’s happened. There isn’t one person who they can say was actually denied the vote because it hasn’t happened.

The Dems have pretty much become the the party of fake problems with solutions that give them more power but rarely solve any problem. It’s gaslighting at a national level.

We should have tests and treatments - all we want or need. Where did that money go?
 
The first relief bill was probably needed, after that it probably had a negative effect. They’ll put another one out there for Republicans to block so they can try to act like they have everybody’s best interest at heart but the mean old Republicans keep thwarting their efforts.
