📺Television Movie/tv thread

House of the Dragon - Meh. It was. Not crazy about the casting choices of the male Targs.

Yeah, I found myself not caring about much. Kind of boring, but I'm not sure what I was expecting. Maybe it'll grow on me. I'm going to start a separate thread for it, maybe Fishon will join us. I see him lurking from time to time.

The gray man - Fun, shoot 'em up action flick.

Blood & Treasure - Tv series on amazon. Another fun, simple show with actors you probably recognize. ex-FBI agent teams up with his criminal ex girlfriend to chase after a terrorist for a variety of reasons. Kidnapped mentor, killed her father, planning another attack, and the plot device for all of this is that the tomb of Marc Anthony and Cleopatra was found and stole. Only the Nazis already stole Cleopatra with the intent on using her mystical powers as the ultimate weapon. So it's a race and fight with the good guys vs. terrorist to find Cleopatra's as the Nazi's moved it from place to place until it was lost to time.

I was going to give it a few weeks before bothering to get hbo. I haven't seen or read anything related to GOT in years, so I'm in no hurry

lol. Hello Fish, hope you and your family are well. But you do need to explain the backstory because us mouthbreathers can't figure it out!

the backstory is basically "the Anarchy" time period from English history. I guess GRRM figured most people would find that boring so he added dragons. Or he started with dragons and wasn't creative enough for his own story so he lifted from real history. I guess that well is dry and now we have to wait over a decade between books.

yeah, still a little salty

and thanks for asking about family. everyone is doing great. hope you are well

I watched some thrillers on netflix this weekend, some meh but man was Behind Her Eyes good. It probably could have been shorter but it sticks around in my head.

Catching up on Mayans after stopped watching since season 1. I really don't remember much of season 2. But Season 3 is pretty damn solid. Intense S3 ending with a full episode battle.

Anyone seen Rings of Power yet? I've read mixed reviews - a lot of Tolkein fans shitting on it, but people unfamiliar with the lore think it's decent.

I mean, aside from the diversity casting (a black female dwarf WITH NO BEARD - wtf?).

I've heard almost nothing but shitting on it, but I didn't even realize it was out yet. It's been "coming soon" for a year now. Last I looked just a week ago it wasn't out yet.

But yeah, it's majorly woke. A black dwarf with no beard is more egregious than what they did in House of Dragons. They make it clear that the female dwarves look just like the men.

The first two episodes are out today.

I'll watch one tonight and report back. I'm torn on it....I don't have high hopes and I hate the woke shit. But although I love the LOTR movies, I'm not a die hard Tolkien nerd and there will be variants that I won't notice or care about. But the obvious shit like a black beardless dwarf will no doubt piss me off

It was out last night.

Watched about a half hour before I fell asleep. It looks really good, but was a bit boring.

I know nothing of this Era of LOTR, only what I read in the 3 main books so I have nothing to compare it to.

Same. I liked the Peter Jackson movies a lot (not the cash-grab Hobbit movies though, those sucked), and read the books as a kid, but I never got into all the supplementary stuff.

I don't understand all the adoration of Belfast. It was a very basic predictable storyline without any nuance. Good acting but a boring story you've seen time and time again. Nothing nuanced or interesting.
