One of the mom's at the bus stop made a comment about global warming and Florida going underwater soon. I simply said I'd heard that my entire life and Key West is still here, I'll believe it when I see it.
I wanted to add that I've been going to St. Augustine my entire life. When I was a kid, certain beaches would be under water completely at high tide. The water would be go all the way up the stairs of the boardwalk. Then for 15 years or so, high tide didn't even get close to the top of the beach. Now it's getting much higher again. Tides go in cycles, that's how it works.

I had some friends who lived in Vilano Beach, depending on tides/Moon it used to flood, but it's still there.

Yeah, they have some auto-suspend buzz words. Like when I got suspended for a week for saying Biden should die of old age in prison for his crimes. But it's weird how it's selectively done. Like I bet if you put "Trump" and "execute" in the same post, you'd be fine.

- As common with new administrations, this notes a freeze of prior administration rulemaking and other actions and new review by the incoming appointees
- Department of Government Efficiency
- Goal is modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity
- Agencies must form a DOGE Team of at least four employees
- Terminates July 4, 2026
- Ending Government DEI Programs And Preferencing
- Appears to terminate Environmental Justice offices and actions (as allowed by law)
- Putting America First In International Environmental Agreements
- Orders agency appointees to withdraw from international climate agreements and funding

Oh and had a discussion with species consultants of the “fish over people” EO. At its core the endangered species act is really only allowed to prohibit an activity leading to the extinction of a species. It could be argued that many fish and wildlife regs go far beyond that.
Landowners have long lacked standing under ESA to challenge these rules, because it’s just an awful statute. But with this shot across the bow, I think this administration is going to take it head on and they have a favorable scotus.
The previous Trump admin had career staff do a very moderate and thoughtful rule to simplify permitting and it was lambasted in the msm. I spoke with one who was shocked at how misleading the coverage was.
So I think in this area and several others where trump was reasonable and moderate and treated like a tyrant he’s going to go full maga. Just in this area it could lead to lower prices and more jobs. The domestic wood industry has been seriously hampered by the ESA, particularly in the west.
