⚖️Law & Order Crimes and trials

So the school shooter....Did we talk about how he advertised on Discord quite a while ago that he planned on doing a mass shooting and showed his guns? He said he was going to wait 2-3 years before though. He also said he was doing it because he contributed nothing to culture, so this was his chance to contribute first or something along those lines. He was reported and the FBI did nothing.

Another loser/social reject

Question for Doc in the post

Fucking people suck. There was the lock down at my kid's school over the shooting threat. The brand new school they just spent 2 years building, someone knocked out the glass of all the doors and windows down an entire wall and they're just cardboarded up.

Now, someone in Gainesville, details are unclear, except a high school or college aged kid posted on social media they intended to shoot up a school and listed a few schools as optional targets (my kids school being one). My kid's school said authorities looked into it and there wasn't enough evidence to arrest/detain. How is threatening to murder children at school not enough of a threat to arrest someone? Is that not illegal?

It may or may not be nothing, but considering the last few shooters of note were known to have made the same comments, looked into by cops or FBI, completely ignored it, only for them to follow through on their threat. As an aside, you can't even get into the office building to check out your kid at the new school without being buzzed. They did a good job on the new school. Every building is locked. The kid says the teachers keep propping their doors open and the Principal has to keep going on the intercom and announcing for all teachers to shut and lock their doors, it's a requirement, not an option.

That's what I thought. The school gave some half assed answer. I have to assume it was a minor since no name was released. A google search shows this week kids were arrested or police claimed social media threats made towards schools re: shooting weren't anything to worry about, but those were for Williston and Lake Butler. Those story reads exactly as what I heard from my kid and the school, including most parents checking their kids out.

So....maybe same kids listing multiple schools. Odds that rural schools will report all about it, but left wing Gainesville won't if the person fit certain demographics. No idea.

It's fucked up since most of these kids probably think it's a prank and nothing will happen to them. And they're generally right, police seem to be taking this as attention seeking or pranks, so they don't consider it credible. Until one shoots up a school. I'd call it impractical to prosecute every kid who does this, but it's likely the only way to get pranks to stop. Drop the hammer on all of them.

Speaking of schools, friend here teaches grade school and in her class not one kid has a family that speaks English at home. It’s Spanish Urdu or Arabic
My kid's school has translators in class because there are a couple mexican kids who don't speak English.

Except.....the kid says they do speak english outside of class. They pretend not to for an easy grade and laugh at the stupid teachers.

Yes actually they can arrest for that. Threatening to commit an act of terrorism is a felony. And if it's a kid, he can be expelled from school.

We actually do that in the panhandle:

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office has located and arrested an 11-year-old girl in connection to threats made to several local schools made over social medial.

The investigation identified a female middle school student who has been arrested and charged with written or electronic threats to conduct a mass shooting, a second-degree felony, according to an ECSO Facebook post. The juvenile was not identified, nor was the specific language of the threats.
