đź“°News 2024 Cone of Uncertainty Thread

Just saw an update that models are conflicting right now. The Euro model had the storm at 960mb today, but it just dropped to 918mb. Also the euro model has it hitting more south, but hi res models still have it hit closer to Tampa. Just gotta keep watching it I guess.
The kid comes in at 10 last night after talking to her mom....her cousin is still planning to leave Thursday for Orlando, MAYBE Friday. My immediate response was, "Is she fucking retarded?"....again.

I hate to be the bad guy, but had to tell her it's idiotic and not safe to drive into the hurricane for vacation. Even though it may be passing Orlando on Thursday, the back half still has wind, a shit ton of rain in this storm, and you have no idea what the damage could be. Flooded roads, tourists, probably a lot of people coming back south to home that evacuated....I'm done pulling punches. They act like retards, I'll say it to the kid.

And the video I just watched has the new path South of Tampa.....like, take out another bridge in Ft. Meyers direction. I'm not sure all the sources agree, but it is currently more south than predicted.

So fuck you, Milton. Further south means fringe Gainesville will once again get very little storm.

My daughter came home from Utah this morning and between her and my wife being worry warts I wound up putting the shutters up. Now it is time to drink beer.

I think I offended my mom. She's always worried about these storms and talks to me like I haven't lived here all my life. She asked if it was getting bad and just like last time, I told her it's raining and there's no wind. The storm moved south and we won't get anything major it appears. Once again, the hype for Gainesville was unwarranted.

She said be grateful it moved south, it's not just hype to others. I told her, "But I don't care about the others and I want a storm". She never replied

The last storm pushed one side of my privacy fence over....it's only being held up by a line of young trees and I can't open the gate anymore. Most of this old ass fence is only being help up by trees or just because it's all connected. I can kick the 4x4 and it'll snap at the ground level. I was really hoping to get some insurance help with replacing it.....fencing is fucking expensive.

Dumb ass liberal Jax mayor isn't giving out sand bags "because they're bad for the environment". Not sure she understands what happens when a house floods. Drywall, carpeting etc.... aren't made of good shit.

Shit ain't even started yet and I already had a tornado go through my yard. 3 or 4 trees down and branches all over my yard.

Guilty.

So it missed Gainesville entirely. Rain, light wind, zero branches or anything down in my neighborhood.

My coworker lives in Okechobee and already had 2 large tornadoes...like midwest level, base spans the horizon type, early in the day. She sent us a video of one forming from her front yard. Later, my other coworker in west palm had one take out houses nearby.

Stupid forecasts.

They just built a Publix put by me. Was set to open 1st week of November. Fucker had its roof ripped off.

New houses they were building in the same area got smashed by the tornado. Saw a pic of a house that had like a 30ft construction dumpster on a roof .
