You're all missing the point. National elections are not about appealing to the middle. They're about exciting your loyalists to show up at the polls. That's why politicians spend so much time on highly divisive topics they can use to demonize their opponents even if there's a middle ground that the vast majority of Americans can get behind.

Take abortion, for example. The extreme Left wants abortion-on-demand with no restrictions. The extreme Right wants no abortions ever. The sensible middle ground - the one that most American support - wants abortion up to viability with life/health/rape exemption beyond that. Where are the prominent politicians arguing for the middle position?
 
Well yeah, we get that....the question is why. Why do these morons cater to the extreme? The loyalists are voting their way regardless. The swing voters go from one side to another every 4 to 8 years just because they get sick of one side and decide to try the other. It would seem far more beneficial to be middle ground and reasonable to keep the swing votes on their side.

Why are the citizens such stupid twats?
 
OK so my story. My friend invited me to watch Persuation on Netflix with some of her other friends - cool I know. This one lady is married to a guy my friend knew in HS and is a teacher. She maybe looks like a young Elizabeth Warren, and when the rest of us sat down to watch, she put on sunglasses (it was night) and sat at the dining table where she couldn't see the TV. You might ask wtf. Turns out watching TV gives her migranes, so she just listened to us make fun of the movie. a harmless oddball I thought. so after the movie she said something about doing a podcast and people asked oh what about, she said reading banned books and that the first one would be "gender queer" I'm not sure if others knew what that was or didn't care, but I remembered from libs of tiktok its the gay porn comic that is at schools all over including grade schools. Its the one that shows guys jacking off, having gay sex etc that parents have gotten into trouble for reading at school board meetings as porn but they are just pointing out it shouldn't be in a damn school.

so its not a banned book its a book SHOWING adult crap like gay sex that shouldn't be in a school. But its being held up as a "banned book" as if the gay part is the issue not the fact it shows sex to children. This shows how college educated libs go full on evil groomer - they buy into the latest thing without any humility or question because they went to college! and have no religion probably or moral compass other than the gays must be held up as normal. Its so fucking gross. Help me, I'm surrounded.

But open pornographic displays are important to queer identity! That's why everyone MUST bring their children to drag shows and pride parades. Otherwise, how will they know LGBT+ people exist? You're erasing their entire existence if you don't allow it!

I remember arguing this set a dangerous precedent on the old board and being told it was worth it.

People are also uncomfortable discussing it, but the lawlessness throughout the country in 20, and the lack of response in DC in particular- led in part to Jan 6. That’s why the attempts to make it all about trump are so desperate.

Why are the 100s of cops injured in 20 or just in general racists, but the ones on Capitol Hill (some of whom opened doors) the only heros?
