📺Television Movie/tv thread

I've seen the first two episodes. It's ok I guess. I'm patient and willing to let shows that start slow come into their own. But I basically agree with the criticism above. The Bene Gesserit are young, but everything in the Dune universe seems about the same as the Villeneuve movies despite taking place 10,000 years in the past.

Travis Fimmel is a bright spot of the show. They've set him up to be the bad guy, but part of me is rooting for him to win out. He has been blessed by Shai -Hulud, after all.

I thought the Dune shit I was seeing was a trailer for a new movie. Didn't realize they made a tv series. The movies were long, slow, and just ok for me, so I didn't pay it any attention.

With Fimmel in it, I'll give it a look though.

Ok, I know nothing about the Dune universe. I've only seen the 2 new movies, so that's 100% of my knowledge. That said, I got bored last night and watched the tv show. I find the show more interesting than the movies. By a lot. Maybe simply because more is happening in a shorter time frame to watch instead of a very long, drawn out movie.

Fimmel is definitely the highlight of it. At first, all I could hear was Ragnar. His speech patterns, but now I think that was less of his Viking voice and more of him enunciating to remove his heavy Aussie accent. I'm curious if that scene with,

Mother Superior. When she tries to make him cut his own throat. Was he resisting at the end and not cutting or was he just fucking with her the entire time by even taking his knife out? I was waiting for him to start laughing and then tell her that her powers don't work on him.

I don't know. They set up the Voice in the first episode as a new power that she had developed. It would have been funny if he had just said, "What the fuck are you doing?" since I'm sure no one really knew about the Voice at that point in time.

I think this show is based on one of the prequel books that Frank Herbert's son wrote. I haven't read it, they are pretty universally mocked by Dune fans, but they keep selling and he keeps writing them so they must not be too bad.

Madness, netflix....thriller? I enjoyed it. A little slow, but not a bad watch.
Yeah, first half was good, dragged a bit after but I enjoyed it. Did aggravate the shit out of me how the main character never closed his mouth

I think he was always supposed to look dumb founded and confused. I don't recall him doing that in Fear the Walking Dead. I like that actor. He reminds me of Ernie Hudson and a couple other black actors that have impeccable English and a unique voice

The Penguin(HBOMax) - Finally finished it really good. Collin Farrell and Cristin Miloti were great. Good story, good action. Also filled with a ton of great acting from secondary characters.
