đź“şTelevision Movie/tv thread

Is that a real movie? If so I need to see it  A female fight club will flop worse than ghostbusters.

Costner's Horizon is out on HBO. It's part 1, it's 3 hours long, and it's slow as shit. There's 5 minutes of engaging content in the movie, the rest is a slow grind of people you're not sure why you should give a shit about. The last 5 minutes, it's unclear if that's a compilation of jump cuts to skip ahead years or if it's supposed to be quick previews for Part 2. Those ending 5 minutes would be a shame to miss.

A lot of potential and while not bad, it was a miss.

It’s a 4 part series, I took it as the first was basically setting things up? I liked it enough, but I like most movies like that.

Left out a word in my last sentence, "While NOT bad...."

My ultimate opinion of it will be determined by how soon they release the series. 3 full hours of pure setup is overkill, especially if it takes months or a year to release Part 2. If they release it quickly, far more acceptable.

Alien:Romulus

Pretty good, better than I expected being that all the characters were basically kids.

Had a logical story and most of the characters did stuff that made sense, except for one person towards the end.

Good action, good suspense, and good gore.

IMO it is better than Alien 3, Resurrection and Prometheus. (I never watched Covenant or the AvP movies)

3.5 beers out of 5.

Finally got around to watching House of the Dragon Season 2. Put me to sleep more often than not. I don't care about any of the characters, but some of the dragon fights were cool.

I think what's missing are really good characters - no one is a true hero and no one is a true villain. Having everyone be a shade of grey is more realistic, I guess, but it doesn't make for good storytelling. In Game of Thrones, most people were rooting for the Starks and loved to hate the Lannisters.

Told ya, boring as hell. It's why I said it was ok to not binge, because it's not engaging enough to give you the, "I don't want to wait a week!" impatience. WAY too much time focused on Daemon and the ghosts. One episode where he say Aegon's original reason for invasion was more than sufficient, we didn't need it to be half the season.

The dragon scenes were well done, but it was a total of like 20 minutes of the entire season. Honestly, if this show wasn't running based on the GOT fans and was the first series to come out, it would never get renewed.

Rewatching Black Sails, I forgot how many hot women are nekkid in that series, and Vane showed his dong for EG in one episode

Matt Walsh is a bit of a douche, but he's got some good comedic chops. I don't know how they got these folks to accept the cameras here but I don't think that is staged.

My favorite part is the horror at the help speaking. Upper middle class and rich people, esp liberals, don’t look at low level workers as actual humans capable of thought.

Just finished True Detective season 2. Jesus what the fuck happened from the first season to the second? Should I even bother watching seasons 3 and 4?

No.

I just started watching Terror, series on the 2 British ships that tried to sail around the artic and got themselves dead near 200 years ago (which they actually found one of the ships not long ago). 5 episodes in and I'm quite enjoying it, even if they had to turn it into a sci fi flick with a killer Yeti

I never bothered with 3 or 4.

Season 2 was ok at first then just got completely stupid. The 3 main characters all make the stupidest decisions at the end that made no sense

Season 3 was ok. Much better than 2, but you can tell they were trying really hard to recreate the magic of Season 1 but didn’t quite know how.

Nothing can match Season 1 - great acting, great writing, great creepy atmosphere that just seemed exactly right for the time and place. Everything fit. Has to be my favorite season of TV ever.

I didn’t see season 4.
