I had to go back to work this week. Last status is that the upper decking has been installed.

:s alute:

Looks like she is enjoying it already.

The plans underestimated the amount of carriage bolts needed, and I didn't feel like going to the hardware store again. Anyway, here are some progress pics:

She demanded the slide be put on because it was boring just climbing down the ladder.

Trap door done.

Crow's nest in progress.

Solid work, Doc, looking good. The crows nest is looking a tad low compared to where the roof will be  Personally I'd use pocket screws on that crows nest...out of all the basic tools, a pocket screw jig is the one of the best things I've ever bought.

"She demanded...."

It's definitely extra work to use the jig, but damn does it make things easier to mount things if you don't have anyone else to help. I've built a few things I simply couldn't have done on my own without using pockets.

What kind of man uses the plans? Ok I'd probably have not put it higher than that either for my kid. Now if I had a son, it'd be 12 feet high  Good ol' double standard of boys/girls....at least for this 'neck.

Speaking of "...you folks". I was setting up Rendezvous/camping this weekend with my parents and the woman (this was her first time meeting my parents). Apparently when I get around family, my country accent really comes out. I can't recall having been told before that I have a heavy country accent. Anyone else unknowingly have an accent come out or change how they speak around family compared to elsewhere?

When I first moved back to Jacksonville around my family and friends it came back. I think I've beat it back, but it happened.

Hah. Yeah in DC I can see how that would be night and day.

Around here (or in Jax for 52) there's enough folks around that a bit of a rural accent shouldn't really be noticeable. Guess I was wrong

I don't get called out by people in Jax, the Canadians I work with noticed it. I tried to get rid of saying y'all for years, but it's too deeply engrained.

I don't give a shit. Y'all, reckon, supper....All a regular part of my vocabulary.

Although with supper, I'm the one who's technically correct. "Dinner" is far more modern. Stupid city folks.

Please wear the badger hat and post pictures. One of my regrets in life is not getting a picture of you wearing the hat and skins...

Badger hat is dependent upon weather.
