How is coffee racist?

Because Juan Valdez has to harvest it?

Because Starbucks is expensive?
Because slaves originally picked the coffee. Which is absurd since the natives of that region were getting coffee beans for centuries beforehand. But later on, slaves may have picked some of the coffee beans. There were a bunch of other stupid reasons....Like Starbucks coffee being "fancy" and wanting you to purchase something to use their building. And some coffee being labeled "premier" implies coffee is racist because some coffee is better than others, which is elitist and only white people drink "premier" coffee.

Sports reporter Taylor Mathis fired. Her sister, a 2nd grade teacher, asked her to talk to her class while she was in town. She gave the kids a lesson in math by using a March Madness Bracket, never once mentioning the word gambling.

Taylor was fired and slandered for "Child Grooming" for teaching the kids how to gamble, when gambling was never mentioned. Only how to fill out a bracket.

Clear example of the left trying to make the world "Child Groomer" meaningless so they can continue doing it for real.

An Italian trans-identifying male, Valentina Petrillo broke another record and won his 8th women's title. He not only competes against women in regular races but in Paralympics races as well. The "patriarchy" wins again!

And yes, he's twice the size of the women. Also, they're all old

^ For sure. They need to track down, shame and prosecute (where they can) every adult who helped stage and attended that event. And yeah, I'd say the same if it were a "cis" girl doing that act. Why are we encouraging children to act like strippers?

This has been my argument since the beginning. A trans involved in a strip show with kids? YAYYYY!!. If I took my daughter to a strip club with me, I'd be in jail and DCF would take her from me.

The guys cheering and at least 1 clearly turned on....but hey, has nothing to do with pedophilia right?

any thoughts Doc?

I'm no expert in environmental or land use law, but I think it's a really tough case for the plaintiffs to win, for a lot of reasons - most of all, it's because this type of shit is highly regulated (as you know) at both the federal and state level. Decisions about where to build industrial facilities are often political in nature - there are public hearings, lobbying, lots of NIMBYism of course, and unfortunately, poor people usually don't get involved in those debates so they get shafted.

On another level, there's a big causation issue - are poor black Louisianans getting cancer because they live close to the oil refinery? Or is it because of other factors (i.e., genetics, diet, etc.)?

fake edit - just took a look at the complaint. It's long on "muh racism," citing shit that goes back before the Revolutionary War and seems to be attacking "systemic racism" rather than any particularized harm to any identifiable person. There's also some standing issues, as the named plaintiffs are a church and some other organization who is suing on behalf of their members.

Seems like a stretch to me, but there may be some remedies available - some of it is about using land that had previously been used for black cemeteries - but I don't think they're going to stop the development.

thanks. I found it a very compelling and easy read, because it did not contain all those pesky references to case law. I am very cynical and pro industry person, but just reading that its hard not to feel bad for them. And I'm someone who understands the epidemiology is extremely tricky, that there would likely be worse issues without the nearby industry (those industries support police, water treatment systems, shopping outlets, parks, schools, not to mention high paying jobs), and that "I know a lot of people with cancer" isn't a good legal strategy. However, the children's climate change suit and other dumbassery wasn't thrown out immediately, so who knows.

I can't wait to use cursed gasoline because they moved the headstones but not the bodies.
lol they didn't have headstones just unmarked graves. They found a large one here that they were able to determine were some of the freed slaves who built local monuments with a lot of sleuthing, so now its a park. But most of these are a handful of bodies like you'd find in rural areas where people relatives on a hill or whatever.

also here there are a bunch of former forts from defending DC in the civil war (like any high area) and former slaves often went there after emancipation. One of them ended up being a settlement long after the civil war and then the city decided to make a civil war museum there and razed all the houses and a graveyard so people are still very mad about THAT.
