At the Oktoberfest, the controversial song "Layla" will probably not be heard. Wiesn city councillor Anja Berger criticised DJ Robin's Ballermann hit as sexist and inappropriate. The Oktoberfest hosts blow the same horn and banish the song from their tents.

No song is currently causing more discussion throughout Germany than the Ballermann hit "Layla" by DJ Robin, which can currently be found at number 1 in the German charts.

The text says, among other things: "I have a Brothel and my Brothel mom is called Layla. She is more beautiful, younger, hotter (...) The Hot Layla, our Layla."

At the Kiliani folk festival in Würzburg, the song was already banned and also at the Düsseldorf fair it should no longer be allowed to be played.
And at the Oktoberfest, the largest folk festival in the world? In all likelihood, you won't hear anything about "Layla" there either. Host spokesman Peter Inselkammer announced on Thursday that the Ballermann hit will be banned from Munich's Theresienwiese.

"Among the hosts there is the prevailing opinion that 'Layla' is not played in the tents," Inselkammer told t-online. Even before that, the restaurateurs had debated and decided that the tent musicians should do without "Layla". "We innkeepers all agree on that" And further: "There are many other good songs, we don't need that," says the host of the crossbow shooting tent on the Wiesn. Inselkammer also finds the song "honestly a bit stupid".

Previously, Oktoberfest city councillor Anja Berger (Green Party) also demanded that the party song "Layla" should not be played in the tents. "I think this song is clearly sexist," Berger told the Münchner Abendzeitung and demanded: "I don't want to hear it at the Oktoberfest." The song addresses "the topic of prostitution in an extremely inappropriate way". Anyone who deals with this knows how much violence, coercion and exploitation goes along with it.

Berger appealed to the hosts of the Oktoberfest to delete "Layla" from the repertoire of their chapels and also demanded that the song is not played at the stands or rides on the Theresienwiese. Since this Thursday, this now seems to be a reality.

Totally forgot the Scorpions existed, but they did have some kickass songs. Never been fond of Rammstein.
