đź“°News The :goodbye: thread

Dude was a legend among meteorologists. Invented the heat index (originally, he called it “humiture”), and was a pioneer in the way weather was presented for TV audiences.

Actor Julian Sands has been missing for more than three months after disappearing on a hiking trip:

You may remember him from the Warlock movies, but he's a "that guy" actor - you recognize him in a bunch of supporting roles, but probably don't know his name.

Welp. Found his body.

Yep, people are dumb. Swimming at the beach is overrated anyway.
Always loved it. Swimming in the ocean when there's no waves to knock you around, boogie board or whatever, now that's just boring. When at St. Augustine earlier this month, severe rip tide, probably worst I've ever felt. A couple surfers in the water, no one else was past knee deep. Deepest I got was thigh deep and it gave my legs a hell of a workout to stay more or less in place. The kid had a death grip on my hand as she's getting knocked around by larger than normal waves for STB, but she was having a blast. One arm had a 75 lb kid hanging from it, the other holding a cigar above the waves crashing on me

I still prefer the mountains as an adult, but the beach as a youngster is awesome.

Another childhood friend passed, this time from cancer. I didn’t know she was sick so I feel bad for not speaking to her in a long time. Her daughter was very troubled and died a few years ago. She had a very rough life. She was one of 8 kids and I think only half are still alive now.
