My take on all these USAID grants. I think they should fulfill the goal of spreading American ideals and culture around the world. And I don't mean acceptance of child sex changes. I mean they should show the world that good things happen when you have certain freedoms and a value system that encourages innovation and hard work. I don't mind spending the money if it results in more freedom and more respect of the United States.

But instead, we have... whatever this is.

My question is - has there been no Congressional oversight? We have this big agency - consuming like 1% of the federal budget - and hasn't anyone been questioning how they spend their money?
No, they don't question it because most of them are benefitting from it.

But I'll also disagree to an extent. The way America has always done it was in a bullish way, forcing "democracy" and what has that gotten us? We created terrorism, we got more countries to hate us, we created puppet regimes....but have we truly changed anyone at all? Japan and South Korea maybe? But we nuked Japan to change them. The middle east? Hah, no one is changing those cavemen.

Send aid if a small asian country gets wiped out by a tsunami, no problem there really. But spreading American ideals and culture isn't going to work. Their cultures are thousands of years older than ours, we're the newbs on the block and even if our way is better, it won't work.

Usaid considered itself independent and members have been trying to get info notably Paul and Ernst. Part of the issue is that these bills go very fast and some Rs have helped. The thing is there is too big of a fed government for congress to effectively oversee. Congressional staffs are a tiny handful of people and they can’t realistically do all the shit they need to. When an agency won’t give them info there’s little they can do. Dems hold military funding up if they don’t get this bullshit

A few things: most humanitarian aid enriches dictators it doesn’t help. It also makes existing leaders look bad for not handling their shit and it’s rejected or stolen.

What would actually help a huge part of the poverty and suffering of the world is for the us to produce the maximum amount of energy possible and use it as leverage to get countries to do right by us and their people. Have democratic elections? You get to buy our fuel that automatically raises your standard of living. Kill gays and children? No power for you.

The soft aid - like to Hamas and South Africa actually emboldens the cruel because it props up regimes that would be overthrown.

My issue is we send hundreds of billions overseas, to fix what can’t be fixed, while we have significant issues here at home that are ignored. If these far lefties were really about helping others, they’d start at home, and not talking about fruitcakes who want to play dress up.

Yeah, in the last year or two alone, we sent a fuckton of money to other countries to:

Secure their border
Give aid for natural disaster relief.

Uhhhhh.....there is no universe in which that is justified while watching what they were doing to our country. I don't want to give one fucking dime to the entire world until we fix America.

And they sent $750 to each household in Hawaii whose house burned up. $750!!. Here in WNC, FEMA is retarded, they cannot get shit done, it’s bananas.

Yeah trillions have been spent on Africa since the mid 80s when it was a popular cause. There aren’t any more colonies, manage on your own. India became a power, what’s holding the rest of you back?. Any assistance should be transactional and conditional - we help you extract resources for a cut.

This has actually helped the life expectancy of rural Alaska. As areas are developed for oil and other resources, the corporations put in roads and water treatment and bring medicine. Responsible development saves lives.

You guys probably didn’t even notice or care but this is the funniest fuck you to dc elite by Trump

They claw and fight and would sacrifice their first born for a seat on the Kennedy center board and he’s destroyed it. The local message boards are so full of lib tears.

Honestly I used to enjoy going. They used to bring over the royal Shakespeare company where I could see period drama stars and have good musicals like Book of Mormon and cabaret and now it’s all woke garbage.

I can’t stop laughing. This is one of those things no one outside of dc gives a shit about but here it’s Armageddon. He’s taking everything from these people who tried to jail and kill him. My god it’s sweet

Long read but an interesting take on it, these firings have crippled the boards of many of these orgs; Trump is playing 5D chess:

The President’s enemies are beginning to awaken to the formidable possibility that Trump knows exactly what he is doing and is setting traps for them to fall into. The New York Times covered the story yesterday under the headline, “Trump’s Firings Could Bring Court Cases That Expand His Power.” (The article even mentioned our beloved Ms. Fong.)

Over the past several days, the President has “abruptly fired dozens of officials,” if not hundreds of them. The Times, at least, is beginning to detect a figure of rationality emerging from the fog of administrative war. It claims to have uncovered a pattern among Trump’s firings of powerful federal actors who thought they were safe. These included the 17 aforementioned Inspector Generals (including high-heeled rebel Fong), plus cemented-in officials from agencies like the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Note that all four categories include officials appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.

Astonishingly, Trump’s mass firings of top-level commissioners from the NLRB, the Privacy Board, and the EEOC, were thought to be illegal and impossible. But even more historic and astonishing, Trump has fired so many it leaves those agencies without quora. They are dead in the water. These now-paralyzed agencies literally cannot undermine Trump’s agenda, even if they wanted to, for the practical reason that there simply aren’t enough commissioners left to vote on anything. They’re frozen.

Strikingly, none of the “abruptly fired” officials have yet sued the federal government—even though Trump is trampling on all sorts of precedents, customs, and statutes. Ms. Fong merely staged a bizarre mini-protest rather than assert her legal rights. All this legal restraint is especially strange considering that in at least one agency, the NLRB, federal law expressly limits the President’s ability to fire commissioners except in very limited circumstances.

The Times and the fired officials smelled a Trump trap.

“The prospect of getting dragged into court,” an alarmed Times observed, “may be exactly what Mr. Trump’s lawyers are hoping for.” What terrified and dismayed the far-left Times and its progressive allies was the ghastly prospect that “any rulings in the president’s favor would establish precedents that would expand presidential power to control the federal government.”

In other words: Trump is hoping that they’ll sue him.

I saw that this morning. I giggled a little.

Great article. I wonder if another reason they aren’t suing is they don’t want DOGE to dig up shit on them

I read in the local papers website some traffic was stopped yday because of retards protesting, holding up Resist, Love is Love, Protect Dept of Education, etc signs. I love that Trump is freaking them out, and exposing them as true morons, it’s beautiful to behold.

Yeah, I don't think most of us have ever heard of it.....but that's awesome. Gut it all.

Of course, I imagine the boards are also filled with, "BUT THE PRICE OF EGGS!"......as if he can fix the avian flu (which I wouldn't be surprised if it as caused by man, not nature for htis very purpose) that started before he took office.

I want to see some of this become law though, codified, not by EO.

Every single one should be arrested. I fucking hate protestors of all kinds. The right to peacefully assemble does not include fucking over everyone trying to get to work, to a Dr. appt, to the hospital, get their kids to school, and so on. It's disturbing the peace and they should all be run the fuck over if they aren't arrested.

Just use less eggs, right?

They’ve moved on from the price of eggs to “constitutional crisis” do try to keep up
I meant social media. Every damn FB thread no matter what the topic is.....History, archeology, camping, random shit FB forces on me....doesn't matter how irrelevant, every page devolves into a Trump bashing thread and the "MAGA cultists" pointing out facts.

That one kills me. "MAGA is a cult"......Lefts have the worst case of cognitive dissonance ever with....everything.

Yeah its pretty easy if you're in a blue area and college educated with friends who are similar and read the NYT, Atlantic, , CNNwatch MSM to not be aware of other views and think anything not conforming is a conspiracy theory and shake your head.

Its impossible even if you're in a red town with all blue collar friends to avoid the legacy msm: they are on every tv channel and newspaper, google search, facebook etc. The kids teacher likely has blm and gay flags, its at the library and local news.
