Well, that's a good question - CFA is privately-held so doesn't have to worry about investors getting worried because their ESG score isn't high enough or whatever.
My guess is that they looked around the corporate offices, discovered they didn't have enough black people for a company headquartered in Atlanta, and hired him to mitigate against possible discrimination suits.
And even though he's got a suspicious title, we don't know what he actually does at CFA. I doubt they go all-in with the CRT or "anti-racist" training that a lot of big corporations did in the last few years.

The video of the CEO shining some black dudes shoes is pretty cringe worthy.
That's the rub, isn't it? If you hire a black dude with that title and then you don't do anything at all to promote the agenda that presumably comes with the title, how do you not get called out on that? It seems like you're more likely to get called out for half assing it than if you just kept your head low.
