I used to read voraciously. Then I noticed more and more authors were adding liberal talking points to their stories, if not focusing on the perfection of the liberal worldview. Every book had a gay or oppressed-social-group character in it, and if they weren't the main char, they were more of a focus than the actual main char. Every book featured evil corporations and dastardly corrupt CEOs and board members, all of which were universally old and white and male. Even fantasy novels were filled with lesbian witches and vilified the noble male knight.
One of the few genres that didn't totally embrace this was the action novel. But they were all filled with super-soldier killing machines who were faster, smarter, better at everything than the grunts they were pitted against. It got tiring reading the same overmatched descriptions again and again. You could tell what was going to happen long before it appeared on the page.
So, rather than support these authors, I stopped reading for pleasure. Now my reading is mostly concerned with hunting magazines, reloading manuals, bbq/smoke books, and the occasional history book.
