Hahaha those gondolas freak the fuck out of me - my husband always sends me articles about ones that crash

The creaking, looking up on that single wire and loop holding you up…I had a death grip on the bar over my lap. I was on the verge of anxiety attack…I knew right then that my desire to overcome the heights with a zip line went right out the window.

It does not suck living in the mountains
No kidding. Drinking coffee and smoking a cigar while sitting on the porch, way better than Florida. I can’t wait to move to here…in a damn decade.

My wife wants to go now. I keep putting her off. My youngest has 2 more years of high school. After that..who knows.

Yeah I’d like to say I could go when she hits 18, but kids these days aren’t independent or self sufficient. I’m not gonna hold my breath expecting I can just bolt right away.

Oh and more fun, I discovered how much I truly hate heights. Like I can walk up mountains and get close to the edge, but I’m not one to sit down and dangle my feet off. Fuck that by a lot.

But the kid loves it and wanted to go to Anakeesta, a side tourist area above Gatlinburg, so you take one of those open gondolas, like a ski lift. Fucking hell I didn’t enjoy that. As much as it stops and you’re left swinging there. 20 minute ride up seemed like an eternity. I’m not doing that shit again no matter how much the kid loved it.
Yeah the lift to Anakeesta is a little freaky. The one to the sky bridge looks worse but you're never really that high up.

Yeah the fall on that one might not kill, just the tumble down the mountain after you land

The guy at the platform like 2/3 up Anakeesta pushed the thing sidewalks so we were wobbling in both directions then. He thought it was funny. The kid thought it was funny. I wanted to turn around and shoot him.

Yeah I walked right past like 6 “NO FIREARMS” signs getting on while I was carrying.

NC has exceeded is quota of Floridiots, I hear GA is nice.

Earlier we were at this guys house at that sells wood work projects form reclaimed wood, mostly old barns, in Parrotsville. My dad had already made friends with him a while back, as he’s done with every local he’s met. These are my dads people. We got to talking about moving up there and it went right to politics  He mentioned a number of east and west coasters move to the area and some trying to bring their BS politics with them. Funny part, he said he’s known a couple of them this year already found out their attitude gets sorted out by locals….armed locals, of course.

You gotta be a dumb MFer to move to rural TN from Cali and start bashing the hillbillies and their politics.

I think that it’s more common for people to leave their bubble and move right. Some people will continue to be elitist jerks, but it’s tough to not learn to respect people who have skills you need and don’t have when that’s all you see

I’ve heard some of the nut jobs in AVL talk about locals, people w Southern accents, etc, and I mostly keep my mouth shut, just not worth it. Not always though.

Got bored late last night and started scrolling through tinder since it goes by location. AVL has some hot chicks, but damn if they weren’t almost all far left. Queer, BLM, poly, vegan witches.

And my favorite that’s not popular everywhere, “ethically non-monogamous”. There’s nothing ethical about being a whore just because your man knows you’re a whore. I’m ok with whores, but let’s stop pretending there’s any morality involved at all.

I think so, too. See it a lot in journalists and bloggers who move out of big cities to rural town to become writers and they all have the same story. “How was I so wrong all these years?”

Imagine having a stepkid that moved there and fell headlong into that vegan, soyboy scene. His girlfriend is the typical AVL chick.

LIVE from STYX /REO Speedwagon show.

Outdoor concert. Just saw a broad in a mask and wearing gloves walk by.

Psychos.

Just booked another trip to Gatlinburg. Holy fuck Air Bnb & Vrbo rentals have gotten so fucking expensive. I tried to book the same cabin we stayed in last time but the price has literally doubled in the last 6 months. :gaah: Ended up getting a cabin for 8 days for $2k. This is the first time I've ever been required to purchase insurance for my stay ($79 bought me $3k worth of damage insurance).

yeah its incredible. one I stayed at in 2020 near Shenandoah is 3x what it cost then. 8 days for $2k sounds about right at this point in 2022.

its tough to find even a crappy hotel for less than $100 anymore.
