I have a feeling Musk's real goal is to try to make Twitter more profitable rather than use it as a "free speech platform" (although there will probably be some significant changes to moderation policy). Twitter didn't turn a profit until 2018 - 12 years after its launch - which is pretty shitty if you ask me. Its growth has been pretty stagnant since then and it only has a fraction of the user base of other social media apps.
I don't know what to think. Part of me says this was a terrible business decision that could backfire on him. What's he have to gain and why does he care if twitter is more profitable? Even if it's not so, I'd like to think he's doing it because he is openly anti-cancel culture. His opinions on this really amped up once they tried to cancel Rogan, who he's actually friends with. Then he started trolling the liberals. He's an eccentric, odd dude....I wouldn't be surprised if this is little more than playing with this "I've got more fuck you money than anyone around here, so try to cancel me" atttiude
