đź“°News COVID thread

statistically it makes sense that if a population has a very high jab rate, that those jabbed would show a higher infection rate because they're a higher part of the population.

I think the statistic that would be bad is if more people died who were jabbed which I don't think exists. There are some troubling anecdotes of younger people dying of heart issues that I'm not sure are fully resolved, so requiring it of young people not at much risk is assinine.

requiring the national guard or anyone to get the jab is absurd and stupid at this point since there's no evidence that it prevents the spread.

Even if the jab actually worked?

The jab does absolutely nothing to keep you from getting it. I'm triple vax'd and have had it twice, got it the first time from a fully vax'd person and spread it to my fully vax'd wife. It may or may not have helped the severity. I had very mild cases.

That's the rub...there's no evidence that the vax reduces severity. The common factor among people getting really sick are fat, old, or really immune compromised regardless of vax status.

Everyone else is a toss up, vaxxed or not, most people get mild symptoms of flu like. There's no tangible evidence to say, "The vax saved me from dying or getting really sick because I only got a little sick". Well a most of us unvaxed also had covid multiple times with mild symptoms or very temporary "I feel like shit" as well.

Especially at this point when the virus has out evolved the vax. It evolved so fast it's like taking a 5 year old flu shot.

I know some normal reasonably fit people about 50 who died or got very sick with delta.

Eh. 1) Being fit doesn't mean healthy. I know lots of fit people who have had heart attacks. Unhealthy isn't exclusive to obesity.

2) Those people are still in the extreme, extreme minority. A grain of sand on the beach.

Delta put me on my ass for 3 weeks, but I was never in and danger. But then again I am not claiming to be fit or healthy.

It put me on my ass for a week. The 103+ fever for 3 days sucked, but mostly I was just completely drained of all energy. So basically it was no different than the last flu I had. I'm in pretty decent shape, but I also don't get much sleep and still have a couple issues from the alcoholism and the damage I did.

propaganda, no other reason.

My neighbor still has to wear her mask at school. Why she obeys her mom is beyond me, but I saw her when I was there and gave her a ride. She was the only one I can recall who was wearing one. Poor kid
