📰News COVID thread

Hybrid COVID and tv thread - I've been watching The Conners with the kid. It was obvious they were woke in the first episode (the 2nd version of the 1st episode, since the first sesaon with Rosanne doesn't exist on streaming). But holy fuck, I'll move past the mixed couple with a natural dark black kid and the flaming gay sun and the openly atheist liberal Darlene....

This 3rd season is heavily COVID laced. They make a big deal out of social distancing, wearing the mask, make sure to vote against Trump. They're wearing masks while outside biking or driving, then take them off when they're face to face inside, highlighting the stupidity of liberals (granted, it's supposedly a live filming and they'd have to remove the masks for the camera/audio). But they keep talking about the science and only evil people wouldn't mask up and all the left wing talking points. Man did that reallllly not age well. "The science" they keep harping on.....lies. I had to look, it was filmed in 2020.

The only positive part is, the flamer boy who's like 12 (and has a boyfriend and a sex talk about what boys do together) is so hyperfocused on covid that he gets paranoid and thinks he has covid because of phantom symptoms. Dan told Darlene she was fucking up her kid shoving covid in his face all the time and giving him anxiety and she denied it. Until a Dr. said to stop giving your kid anxiety by shoving covid in their face 24/7. A small, tiny win in a very woke show that's constantly virtue signaling....

Despite that, it's still pretty funny. Mostly due to Becky and Dan.

Really? Lecy Goranson is absolutely not funny. She has terrible comic timing and her facial expressions don't match the joke she's trying to tell. They should have brought back Sarah Chalke as Becky.
John Goodman is a funny guy, but I don't know if it's the writing, or the direction, but he's not funny, either.
Nobody is ever happy, and the constant fighting between Darlene and the guy makes it unwatchable.

That's why it amuses me. She's terrible and I can't tell if her incredibly stupid appearance is great or terrible acting. But mostly, her insults are usually pretty good. And timing or not, I like a good insult. And most of them are targeted at Darlene, who does nothing but fuck things up and make things worse in every single episode. Sarah Chalke is way too hot and has too many roles at this point to come back to the white trash family

I like Dan because he's just mean to these retards.

There are a lot of characaters to hate though. Jackie, she's the most annoying to me.

It's not a show I go out of my way to watch. Basically the kid watches it when there's nothing else on. I'll watch an episode, go out to smoke a cigar and miss 2 or 3 episodes, and I can keep watching, not caring what I missed. I definitely don't sit down and watch it myself.
