Nothing in here about any new hires on the coaching staff? I thought we would have a Defensive Coord by now at least...what's the deal iHate? I guess I could ask my husband who has Scout now, but I always forget when I'm at home because have a million other things to deal with.

****update (4:35 pm), I just got a second confirmation from a non-UF source. It looks like this will happen. It also appears things are moving quickly and he will be on the ground running very soon.

I think this is legit, but I am hearing that Florida may be hiring George Edwards as probably some form of the DC. I am typing this fast but heard his name the other day from a coach not affiliated with Florida. Edwards was employed by the Miami Dolphins this year as a LB coach.

I know Urban has tried to hire him before and I know when I was on staff, Zook tried to hire him before he hired Charlie Strong.

This would be a great hire if true.

Gator Country just got a call from an extremely well placed and reliable source who confirmed that George Edwards has accepted the offer to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida.

This is the second time the coordinator's job has been offered to Edwards. He was offered by Ron Zook after the 2002 season. When Edwards turned it down, Zook hired Charlie Strong off the South Carolina staff.

We'll have more on the hire of George Edwards later.

You guys came through...although I found a minute and asked Bill...he said it was going to be a guy who is the LB coach for the Dolphins but didn't remember the name. THANKS!

He also said he heard that Drayton was coming back to UF from UT as RB coach. Don't know about that.

Also hired a Defensive coach...last name Durkin - from Stanford.

Ooops...just realized Drayton was at Syracuse this year not UT...i guess Kiffin unloaded him...dolt.
