NFL Draft

Do any of you watch? It's an annual tradition for Bill and I. It's probably the one NFL event (other than the Super Bowl) that I pay any attention to. Glad it doesn't come on until Four today so I'm not missing anything because of Dance class.

It's especially great when their are Gators in the mix like Harvin.

We got a million things going on today, but I keep it on the radio. No Bears pick, so I'm less interested, but it's always fun to watch the Redskins mess things up.

Bears just made their first pick...defensive player from San Jose State? Or was it Fresno State? Can't remember.

That was a typo, CI went to the Iggles. Katie is very excited about that pick to say the least. I think he could end up doing very well in Philly considering the type of offense they run and the need for a pass catching tight end.

I think Sanchez is going to do great in NY. as long as he has a good cast around him. I think his personality and charisma will be a good fit for the New York fans and media. What about my Bengals. They had one helluva draft, they only drafted one person that had been arrested.

NY papers are ushering the new era and embracing sanchez as the face of the program for many years to come...citing atlanta and baltimores ability to make substantial improvements with rookie qbs last year...jets were a 9-7 last year...no reason to believe that the jets can do better now...i naturally am very hesitant to start thinking AFC championship but can't dispute the logic...papers seem to be more fixated on the jets interest in plaxico burress and how that can be a death wish to sanchez and the organization...papers are ripping GM tannenbaum for even considering tainting sanchez with a gun toter in plax...i personally believe plax would be a great addition but am not so sure about the off the field stuff...sanchez needs a filler in WR with the departed lauverneus coles gone...papers are equally as excited to get the iowa kid greene...they're calling him the next curtis martin...new HC rex reed wants to become more ball control and they thought greene was the best RB in the draft...he's a local kid (NJ) and from what i remembered from his bowl game, he looked good in the holes...personally - i'm just excited about him as i am sanchez

papers have KILLED the raiders taking bey over crabtree.

Greene was a nice pickup. From what I remember he is a tough kid and holds onto the ball. I also appreciate the Jets letting Coles go to the Bengals. I don't know about the Jets with Plax, sure he is a good receiver but would he mess up Sanchez? Kind of reminds me of how Owens could really screw with Trent Edwards mentally. I think Ryan is going to be an awesome coach for the Jets and I am also really happy he is out of Baltimore finally.

Greene's not as fast as Martin but has better power, IMO. Solid pickup.

If he can come back from a blown out ACL. He is supposed to start practicing in June but I think UK has already put Alphonso Smith as the starter and the back up will be the human bowling ball Moncell Allen.

The Bengals don't have a GM, they are too cheap for that. The owner that has run the team into the ground, Mike Brown, is the GM. That guy is known to be cheap but has paid himself a "GM bonus" since taking over the team from his father in the early 90's.

The Redskins, also without a GM (though not for the too-cheap reason), are complimenting themselves over having selected a real football player in the first round. But the hundred million dollars they're throwing at Haynesworth is gonna kill them again in terms of depth and special teams. I'm thinking it's gonna be another 9-7 year.

^^^Yeah, lots of pats on the back for "restraining" themselves and not giving up the world to trade up and get Sanchez. Short term memory loss had kicked-in overdrive regarding the huge $$$$'s they just handed over to Haynesworth. Now how many games will Haynesworth play this upcoming year. Over/under in my mind is 11. He hasn't played a full season since his rookie year has he? What does that break his salary into on a per game played basis?
