HB: Couple of things I'm hearing...updated...

Just wanted to pass along a couple of things I am hearing.

First, it may have changed this evening and the media hasn't been out to practice to ask, but I have a couple of sources that tell me Dan Mullen hasn't been coaching with the team since he was hired as the head coach at Mississippi State.

When Addazio was announced and the timing of it, I believed something like this may have been the case. Again, I am not sure, but that is the way it appears right now.

These are good sources and I think they are correct, but am not going to post it as a front page story until we find out more tomorrow.

The second thing I am hearing is that it seems that Cam Newton will likely have most or all of the charges against him lessened or dropped. However, it also appears he is looking somewhere else to finish playing football. This is about what I expected. I am hearing Mississippi State and Michigan are the places he is looking into the most.

i am not condoning any of his actions over the problems he is in, but I do believe Cam is a great kid and just made a few very bone headed decisions.

UPDATE...MEYER SPEAKS:....

First thing is that Meyer said Mullen will coach and is important for the game.

He said Percy ran today but did not practice. Said Percy is ahead of schedule

Said everyone is acadenically eligible.

Kestahn Moore is only other one out now and he will be 100% by next week.

Said Carl Johnson and Louis Murpjy were back at practice and going strong.

Said it has been three great days of practice.

From what we have heard this evening from a very good source, all charges against Cameron Newton have been dropped for lack of prosecutable evidence. We will follow this up in the next couple of hours for more information, but this looks like very good news for Cameron Newton.

1:20 PM UPDATE: A couple of the charges were dropped completely, claiming not enough evidence for prosecution. On the remaining charge, we were told that Cam will get first offender status, have to jump through a few hoops for about a year and handle a few other requirements ... but if he lives up to all the requirements, at the end of the year the records will be expunged.

Lloyd Carr didn't take other schools' deferred-prosecution castoffs is all I'm saying.

I used to just want Rich Rodriguez fired. Lately I want him shot.
