I guess what arouses my suspicions is this.

I am a Gator fan in jolly old England. I do a google search and find Gator Country.

I think for now all we can do is give him the benefit of doubt and see what happens. The Bulldogs in his name got my attention first and then I remembered that a lot of English sports teams are named after that breed. Anyway, he's worth keeping an eye on.

I did my best and had to tell this to Boca. He did not care and demanded to know the company's name.

When I told him I could not he turned on me and began harassing me on line and in the chat room telling lies, etc.

Even when I shared about my father passing away he made a truly classless joke about my father. I should have reported it.

I got all that from him for nothing more than trying to help the guy.

We do not do this very often, but I just felt like we had to do this with gatorfan5220.

We do not ask a lot, but if the administrators have to constantly answer PMs and complaints from a moderator that can not get along with other mods then that mod is not a lot of help to us. He even took to going to Solari with his complaints because I would not do anything.

Also, while he has reported many wrong doings in the Bull Gator Den, I could only see one action taken in the forum he is suppose to moderate.

I do not like to remove moderators but sometimes folks just do not leave us an alternative.

For what it's worth, I never had much trouble with him, but never got much help from him, either.

Also, I should say that I'm enjoying the national board much more than Swamp Gas. I know I took some heat here and probably privately as well (understandably) for being a bit too friendly toward rival posters, and moderating the national board, while more work, lets me be as equal as I'm used to being with posters from different areas. Swamp Gas Mods

I am going to move GatorGuy84 over to the national board. Let me explain my thinking.

I was needing a mod or two for there and had inquired about NY going over, but he is too busy.

I had even thought about one of the administrators from our board going over as a super moderator, but that disturbed me because of the harm it could do us here just to build that site.

I started thinking about one of our mods going over and I thought about two of them for different reasons.

One, was JamaicaGator. I know he has a good reputation on other boards. I first noticed him on War Chant a few years ago that he could discuss with rivals and make his points without making most folks mad.

So, I knew he was a member of Gator Bait so I joined them and I watched him there. At the time, he was probably their most respected poster other than a writer or two.

I sent him a message and gave him a week of GC if he would give me an honest assessment of our site verses GB (we were at Scout then). Well he did and I was pleased with his forthcoming and he liked our boards. So, I offered him to moderate here if he backed off of the other site slowly, which he did.

He does not post as much as I would like and only moderates some, but that is not too bad for the forum he is on.

I might would send him to the National Board because he is good at that, not so much as a moderator in the true sense of the word, but as a representative of GC.

The other is GatorGuy84 and here is my reasoning.

One, he is really not a good moderator for us. I mean he is not sucky like Gatorfan5200, but he is too rival friendly, which would not be a had thing there. Also he did ask for the job and he does have experience with boards that are not one team oriented. That would be the Georgia High School site. that has more traffic in the winter than we do (40,000 free members)

That leaves us with a poor group of mods in Swamp Gas. MCG is okay adn TBL is helping us all over the place.

So, I want this- everyone do your best thinking and I would like better mods in Swamp Gas. I will move 5220 to Joes Fruit Stand or something

I suspect we will have more of the rivals coming in and working with them is hard. You want to be respectful and put a lid on those few fans of ours that think they can talk smack because it is a rival fan. My policy has always been to give a little more room to a rival fan who has proved himself. However, most of the ones who prove themselves do not need room.

Now, I know some of you do not like him- but g8tr96 has been a very good mod. He keeps me informed, he is puzzled when traffic is down and really busts it to have a good forum, but that is a different place where folks are kissing ass to get cash. However, I would not hesitate to move him if we needed to.

G8RBrave and I discussed this today and off and on for weeks and we are not happy with our mods, but that is my fault. I hesitate to remove them because rad made me gun shy on what can happen.

Please weigh in with your thoughts. I trust each of you and I hope you trust each other so that we can move forward. Lots of good things going to happen at GC starting Monday.

I will be in Gainesville for some meetings on Monday.

Looking through the mods in Swampgas I agree with you:
GatorGuy84- Great mod who, if we are sending our A team to represent us on the national boards, is a perfect candidate.

Gatorfan5220- Dont know much about him, see him report posts, but would love to know why he sucks so bad!

MusicCityGator- Good mod IMO, pretty active especially when they used to have that post running in the enclave about checking swampgas

TBL- Like you said, great mod but stretched pretty thin

I think g8tr96 is doing an amazing job at the casino and moving him should be a last resort but certainly an option.Just a few names to throw out there from looking at active posters in the sport of football:

gatorfan5220 does not moderate- we have a log where I can (or any admin) can see who does what and he does hardly anything. Most of his time is spent on the Den as he does report a lot of posts over there.

He does not like confronting folks, as when someone hurts his feelings he comes to me to intercede (such as now with NY in that thread on the mod forum). I do not think I have ever stepped in on a thread in there as I expect the moderators to work it out.

Will leave it up to Brave and you'll to get a mod or two.

I've thought for awhile now that Swamp Gas needs help, but like Growl said, it's hard to remove people as mods without hurting feelings. I do have some ideas on that, so I will touch base with you Growl.

MCG is a very active mod and does a good enough job, however, he does get a bit moody when he doesn't get his way.

Gatorfan5220, what can I say? Growl pretty much sums him up. He has run to us every time someone pokes fun at him and Major has made him his whipping boy in Chat. He emails me every time he complains to Ray or Growl and gets no response. Always wants me to intercede on his behalf.

TBL is everywhere. No matter what forum I'm in, there he is. You do a great job.

I think like others mentioned, rserina would be good if he'll spend time on Swamp Gas. Growl, if you would like, I could peruse the SG board for Insiders that post there a lot and compile a list of candidates. Let me know.

All I know is we need some changes in SG (TB excluded of course). I've grown tired of watching rival fans run amok and I've even seen some of our mods defend some of their crap.

Like I told Growl the other night, I don't have much good to say about Rad, but he didn't put up with any lip out of rival fans on this site, and that is the way it should be.

I want to see someone kick ass and take names when it comes to rival posters, as well as when Maj and some of the others get in these pissing matches.

Bak, maybe you can talk with Bari and see if he can just tone it down a notch. He has a tendency to get a little cutting with his comments, and as a mod that might rub folks the wrong way.

I don't consider this a huge deal, and I think this may be a coordinated effort from Rad's crew, but it does have some merit that we might want to deal with before it gets worse.

I got a very curious PM this morning.

I responded to the previous radbag PM (posted above) by saying I would talk to Bari and tell him to stop bothering rad through PMs. (Something I never intended to do but just to atleast respond.)

Everyone's welcome, whether they're Gators or not. Step right on in, folks, and savor the relaxed atmosphere! --- everyone is NOT welcome and with respects to him and him alone, it is NOT very relaxed.

let's put it this way baka...i've been where you are and i know how this all plays out...i was neither the first in your position and you'll certainly not be the last...i know how the old 'aggressive moderator' vs 'logical, calculated admin' battle plays out...those days of aggressiveness is not needed anymore because there aren't any rival schools posting anymore...we're all gators...i've received emails and pms from many in the pub concerned with your rogue mods attitude and unfriendly behavior...there's no need for the bouncer mentality...he feels as if he's the judge and jury as to who can joke around and who can't...he's gonna get turfed sooner or later and it'd be better if you were just aware of the goings on rather than be the hatchet man at the end...the breath of the pub always prevails...the sentiment from quite a few i've noticed has not been complimentary of him in particular...it's gonna happen...just thought you deserved to know who's lurking about for your position as admin.

This does not pass the smell test......I swear Rad and his followers remind me of a cult. Sounds like Rad and his devoted have singled out Bari to get under his skin and inside his head. When Bari reacted accordingly, they pounce and make a complaint he's a "rogue" mod. Bari's young and fell into this. Have there been any other complaints from non-Rad posters? If not, I'd take this with a grain of salt.

I remember, Shane, when Rad became a mod and Admin, he systematically went after fellow mods. He started with Raygator. Remember his nasty, bossy posts on the ME forum. I was done with him and saw him for what he was when he let TN get attacked on SG....and said it was TN's fault for posting on SG rather than stick to his own forum.

I wasn't around for his attacks on RayGator, but Growl and I have talked about that so I'm in the know on what went on there. It was very similar to what Rad did to me right before he was removed. He basically started trying to find anything he could to undermine me or make me look bad.

He essentially picks people out and tries his best to get under their skin. The difference is he's now recruited an army to do it with him. It is all very strange to me how they follow him.

Frankly, I think his time on GC should probably be over. But, he has a following and I don't want to martyr him either.

The followers I know of always seemed like very nice people....I'm stunned by their blind following and malicious meanness. They've evidently never had Rad turn on them.

I always played nice and laid low around Rad...didn't want to get on his chit list. He's brutal.

Banning is probably easier said than done.....just my wishful thinking.

The banning is easy, but the crap that follows is what I worry about. I told Bari yesterday that I would ban them all on his request, but he needed to know they will go after him relentlessly like they did Matt. Sometimes it is best just to ride the waves and deal with it in quiet way, like removing texgator yesterday.

Rad is careful to send him minions in to get banned, but he stays above it.

Yeah the worse thing I have done on this site is let RayGator get what he got from Rad. I have apologized many times for that and RayGator is as gracious as they come, but that will always sting me that I got duped. I did not wake up until that morning when he started in on Shane the same way he had Ray.

I don't know if I'd call it cutting her slack. I try to be fair and balanced ( no pun on Fox intended). Pubs post threads that are not friendly toward Dems and liberals....like G&S's are cutting to conservatives. I see it as fair if I let the ones posted by conservatives stand, then G&S's should remain, too. Now, when she gets on a roll and posts alot of them, I will remove a few or if she's on a baiting kick, I remove them and warn her. She's a tough one to moderate....if I lock or remove one of her threads, some posters will ask why and say they wanted to read or post on the thread....and then there are others that are thrilled her thread was removed. It was very peaceful the week she was banned. I don't really like her, but if I do have any soft spot for not banning her permanently, it is because I know she's an addicted THFSG poster and Gator fan.

Several years ago, when we were still at Scout, I checked her IP with the old GW.....same IP address.

It's cool, Shane :joecool: I figured you were. Sometimes there is the appearance where things need to be explained. You make a good point about Bill and G&S. We have alot of strange characters on Too Hot that add color. I don't think about it much, but Too Hot is difficult to moderate and keep some of our resident characters from ruining a thread or causing problems. Some how it ends up working.

There is some truth in what he says. I would hope that this is all limited to Too Hot. I have not spoken to Ray (Solari) about it, but he did send me the e-mail wanting to know who sent it. I can not be 100% sure, but I am pretty sure it is GatorWalkon84 who was, in reality, quite the race baiter himself, but he did not limit it to the political board.

Anyway, this is something that Solari and I will discuss. I do not like the racist overtones in too hot, but I don't like the anti-religious ones and several others. If we are asked to put the racist overtones in the can then we may have to do it across the board and then I think THFSG will lose its passion and flavor.

Still there are about 1/2 dozen posters in several forums we would better ourselves by removing, but then do we lose our flavoring and become vanilla. I miss good discussion with rivals, but do not miss the crap we endure from 99% of them who think we are Gator Bait or some other unmoderated forum.

Anyway, just sharing this to put it under your hats and to open the floor for discussion. If we do need to dial things back, I will take the lead in that.

For one thing, no one on Too Hot has used the phrases "Black boy" or nigger. The word nigger has been discussed....no problems have resulted and the discussions just fine. Most posters on Too Hot want the leeway and light moderation. Most follow rules and are respectful. Race and racism is being discussed ad nauseum right now....if there were any incidences of blatant racism like the letter writer stated, that poster would have been taken care of.

Traveling and I have discussed Bill's use of "bg" in reference to Obama. Bill did it to rile the liberal posters. He got the predicted result, but folks have gotten to expect it now and there's no reaction. We decided just to leave him alone. Perhaps that was a mistake and but can be easily taken care of.

I need to digest this letter a bit more for now.

The subject matter on Too Hot can offend just about anyone. Hate to see it go vanilla, but I'm sure we can achieve some sort of balance to keep the passion and interest.

This messageboard is first a foremost a place to discuss Gator Sports. Places like THFSG and the Pub are nice places for our fans to enjoy but if at any point they start to cause more problems then they are worth than we need to remember what our identity is.

Race and racism are a part of this election. Most topics have gone well....there are some things that can be changed. Like Phil's sig and Bill calling Obama the bg. Have sent PMs to them telling them to stop. We'll tighten things up a bit to reduce any problem with sensitivities. That's why I named another mod......Too Hot is swamped with sensitive issues these days.

After digesting this more and drinking a gallon of coffee this morning, this letter appears to be an attack on Too Hot and on Bill. I question all this due to the fact the writer didn't sign his/her name.

The person who sent it was a former poster named gatorwalkon84, who was sort of an Al Sharpton himself. If any one criticized anyone it was due to race (if they were black) and not because of any of other flaws. I think we finally banned him over his defense of Vernon Maxwell because he was saying all the comments about Maxwell were because he was black and not because of his lack of character.

If there is nothing to this guy other than ranting then no worries. I will link this thread to Ray so he can input if he likes. I did not answer the e-mail because I knew the source.

However, it seems that this morning traveling is editing comments about "black guy", I do not know the context of that and defer to nana.

At this point, I see no foundation for the rant. There is room for improvement....we're going to tighten things up a notch on some of the Obama comments. Phil and a couple of others come to mind. Bill's been told to stop using the bg reference. I've always been cautious about closing or removing questionable threads as Too Hotters hate that and are resistant. The forum will be looked at from a lurkers or minority point of view to avoid any misunderstandings or a poor representation of GC.

This email is an exaggeration by Walkon, especially concerning Bill and the "blatant racism" comment. He makes it seem like the majority of posters on GC play the race card and I can state matter of factly, that if that were indeed the case, we would have received numerous emails, not to mention members calling us out on the boards. That is not the case.

THFSG is a forum for debate concerning subjects too extreme for the main board and is not for the weak of heart, which is why I usually steer clear of that place. When I spot a subject or post that gets me riled, I get out. I'm guessing it's the political rhetoric that's getting his goat and without question the Obama bashing. He better get used to it because the mainstream media circus will begin soon and Barrack will be center ring.

Growl, I would be more concerned if we were getting more than this from a wide variety of sources instead of just one in GatorWalkon.

While that is true on its face, those two board keep us afloat in the off season months. It is not so much the traffic, but that we have to have draws to keep folks interested and especially the monthly folks not just canceling for five months each February.

Solari told me years ago that the most important forum we have for that reason. That is why we put up with reps and spend time on the casino. We would like to be a year round site and we just have to have all these little things to keep them.

I want to start a "prospect list" for the Hole, for people that have gained our attention, but whom we don't know very well. People like anstro76.
It's a bit different than a nomination, which is what we would do in the Hole thread.....

Feel free to suggest people for us to get to know/keep an eye on to see if they are both hole material and trustworthy.....

Also, we need to invite all the current GC mods to the Hole. Some may turn it down, which is fine, but if we are going to discuss our hidden forum in the Enclave, we need to have all mods either members, or have had an invitation extended toward them.
