Mostly random thoughts at this point:
-I don't see Ricky Barnum going anywhere but UF. I could be wrong, but it certainly doesn't seem like Michigan thinks they are getting him. Usually a recruits interest is highest right after they leave the visit and then subsides over time, so if he didn't give them any warm and fuzzies why he was there, seems unlikely to do so when he gets back to Lakeland. Not sure on Buchanan.
-We're in an enviable position, in that we truly don't have a minimum number of recruits we HAVE to take. Everyone assumes the number is 24, but if we end up with only 22, we're likely to use those 2 ships next year on players of a similar (or higher) quality and it also moves us closer to our secondary goal of having class balance, something Meyer stressed in the previous off-season
-Absolutely no talk coming from the Michigan and South Carolina camps in regards to TJ Lawrence. Virginia Tech? They picked up their 5th WR (Randall Dunn) of this class today and told another recruit the class was full. They have 29 commits.
What a joke those Scout Team Rankings are. They are losing credibility by the minute. They have 7 teams ranked ahead of UF. Based on Scout's own player rankings its understandable why UGA(3) and ND(2) are ranked ahead of UF, but here is the breakdown of the other 5 teams and UF.
********Top 50****top 100***top 150*****top 200****top 250*****top 300*****
1Bama****2*********3*********5*********5*********1 0********14
4Texas AM*0*********0*********4*********5*********6****** ***8
5Miami****3*********5*********6*********7********* 7*********7
6FSU*****2*********3*********3*********3*********4 *********8 (includes Footman)

None of these make sense, especially Texas A&M. Zero top 100 recruits and their class is ranked 4th? Keep in mind these are not Composite player rankings, these are SCOUT'S own player rankings! Put aside any argument about our recruits being ranked lower on Scout than other networks and just focus on what a FUBAR this ridiculous Class Ranking system is. Before any thinks its a orange and blue glasses rant, the worst part of the rankings isn't UF's ranking, the even bigger joke is that USC (7 Scout 100 commits) is 15th and Ohio State (8 Scout 100 commits) is 16th. This system is an abomination.
Some random recruiting information that came out this weekend on past Gator recruits or Floridians:
Marty Everett committed to NC ST
Khiry Cooper committed to Nebraska
Greg Shaw will sign with LSU
Jerico Nelson switched his commitment from Purdue to Arkansas
Benjamin Jones will sign with Miami
Javonta Boyd committed to Kansas State
Charles Deas will not sign with Auburn as expected and is headed to JUCO
Justin Feagin (Delray Beach) will commit to Michigan. Labeled as an "athlete" unless they lose Pryor, if/when that happens he'd be a QB
Martavious Odoms is likely to sign that track scholarship to Miami
Khyri Thornton is likely to sign with FSU though he has major academic hurdles
Other National News:
-Christian Wilson should be switching from Michigan to UNC shortly
-Notre Dame is about to flip another recruit, Kapron Lewis Moore (from Texas AM). That makes 3 recruits they've flipped. Jonas Gray and Trevor Robinson were previously committed to Nebraska.
-Rumors of USC stealing several last minute Southerners (Marcus Robinson, TJ Bryant, Jerrell Harris, etc.). I don't think they pull it off. I'm hoping they realign their efforts in future years to areas a little more friendly to them and only selectively recruit in the South. USC already has 7 commits for 09' and all 7 are from California. They almost pciked up their 8th today when Devin Flournoy committed and then decommitted on the same day.
-I expect Miami and Alabama to finish strong. These 2 will likely end up in everyones top 5, maybe higher. Prepare yourselves now. Just be glad that we got ours. Many said we'd lay an egg and that didn't happen.
My guesses on the big time guys still out there:
Terrelle Pryor: Ohio State
Brandon Harris: Miami
TJ Bryant: Alabama
Julio Jones: Alabama
Jerrell Harris: Alabama
Antone McClain: Clemson

I'm sure ND considers them wayward youth that have been brought into the flock.
