A few years ago Fox and Pepsi had a contest where the winner would get their own real-life version of The Simspons' house. But taking things about a million steps further, Universal Orlando is adding the entire town of Springfield to its theme park—at least the parts that fans really care about.
Opening this Summer, the attraction seems to focus on the food available to the residents of Springfield. Including a Krusty Burger, Moe's Tavern, Lard Lad donuts, the Kwik-E-Mart, the Frying Dutchman, and Luigi's Pizza. And the park is even going so far as to have an actual Duff Beer brewed exclusively for the attraction.
And yes, I will pay ridiculous theme park prices to buy a Krusty Burger and a Duff beer.
Universal Orlando'sSpringfield expansionto itsThe SimpsonsRidewon't be completely finished and ready for the public for a while. But Fast Food Boulevard, a part of the attraction featuring restaurants from the animated series, officially opened over the weekend andInside the Magicwas there to capture what it's like to dine at those real-life establishments. One word: surreal.[/h] Visitors to Orlando Universal can now quench their thirst and stuff their faces at Moe’s Tavern, Krusty Burger, Cletus’ Chicken Shack, the Frying Dutchman, Luigi’s Pizza, and even finish it all off with one of Lard Lad's gigantic donuts. For fans of the series, it's a dream come true, and the only place on earth you'll be able to order a Krusty-Partially-Gelatinated-Non-Dairy-Gum-Based-Beverage.
