out local team, newburgh free academy, beat niagara falls high to win the class AA championship at the glens falls civic center in glens falls NY

interestingly enough, we were up there this weekend for my middle daughter's volleyball tournament...glens falls is about 3 hours away from us...in the area of lake george which is a very popular summer getaway spot for the hudson valley and the adirondacks...so the volleyball team (and parents) slept overnight so that the team would be ensured to make the 8:00 volleyball tourney...girls didn't do so well but a buddy of mine, his daughter and my daughter are teammates, says "by the way, newburgh is playing for the class AA championship down the street...let's go"... i said "fuck yeah"

i'm not a big hoops fan...my buddy is...he's a syracuse guy and knew all the players from newburgh AND niagara.

here's the original point that i wanted to make : the class A (single A) was contested just prior and it pitted peekskill high vs jamesville-dewitt high school...jamesville-dewitt is just outside of syracuse...they won in overtime...the MVP of that game was a kid named dajuan coleman...his father is derrick coleman...derrick played for syracuse and went on to play in the NBA with the nets...dajuan is a 9th grader...he's 6'9" and is only 15 years old...SIX FOOT NINE and thicker than his old man...this kid is going to be big at the next level....remember the name.

I will.

I was watching a little tournament today, not much, and there was a JaJuan and I think a DaJuan or a J'Juan or something like that. Which made me think, W T F? What's the inspiration for the JaJuan cluster? I never heard the name until this past week.

I love going to see HS sports.
