Interesting article by Niall Ferguson, ultimately arguing:

Economic volatility, plus ethnic disintegration, plus an empire in decline: That combination is about the most lethal in geopolitics. We now have all three. The age of upheaval starts now.

Talks about how there are currently about 9 potential hotspots for massive upheaval around the world, including Somalia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Russia and most notably Mexico.

Ferguson has an impeccable scholarly record, and given his research on the great War, I listen to his opinions carefully.

Agreed--I think I've appreciated basically everything I've ever read from Ferguson.
