Obama budget official withdraws for tax reasons
38 mins ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama's choice to oversee budget and spending reform, Nancy Killefer, withdrew her nomination on Tuesday because of tax reasons, according to a letter released by the White House.

"I recognize that your agenda and the duties facing your Chief Performance Officer are urgent," Killefer wrote in the letter to the president, asking for her nomination to be withdrawn.

"I have also come to realize in the current environment that my personal tax issue of D.C. Unemployment tax could be used to create exactly the kind of distraction and delay those duties must avoid."

Tax problems are plaguing Tom Daschle, the former Senate majority leader selected by Obama to spearhead U.S. healthcare reform.

I find it hard to take these stories seriously after the past eight years of W's disastrous fuck ups. Whatever happened to conservatives that caused them to become such fucking children?

I saw the Right's fave cross dresser, Rudy Giuliani, was on CNN the other day, complaining about the fact that Obama slammed Wall St for doling out 18 billion in bonuses at the same time they were asking tax payers for a bailout. Old Rudy thought that was really mean, because without those bonuses, how ever would NYC keep running?

I was about to write it off as Rudy just being one of the stupidest motherfuckers on the face of the planet, but then I saw the number two Republican in the Senate, John Kyl of Arizona, on Fox making the same argument. At least they're being honest about the fact that the right is in favor of raping the middle class in favor of the ultra rich.

Oh well, I guess when you think Sarah Palin is a good idea, a drug addled radio deejay is your top intellectual, and you're bringing Joe the Plumber to Capitol Hill to promote your economic ideas, you get what you deserve as a political party: total failure. Good riddance to you fuck ups. Send a post card from oblivion, you whiny ass titty babies..

So I take it you didn't vote for McCain in the end, if that's the case.

Just like I'm entitled to point out the clownish stupidity of the Party of Jeff Gannon.

Alright honestly maybe I am just slow or something but when I see Mitch McConnell on CNN all the time bitching about tax cuts as part of the stimulus I just wish he would shut up. I am a democrat and even I agree half the crap in the first plan( std's, re sodding the mall) was bad I just cant agree with doing top down economics. It seems when they tried that in October all the banks did was refurbish their office's. Is there a way to go about 50/50 with top down and bottom up tax cuts?

It's cuz they're not actually interested in the country's economy or making compromises, Joe. They just want to play politics and clown. They'll watch the economy slide down the toilet if it scores them political points with the extremist wing of the right.

Let's be real, a1. That problem isn't exclusive to the righties. It runs rampant with the vast majority of ALL of our elected "leaders". It's an inherent problem with holding popular elections on a regular basis. It's nearly impossible for an elected politician to take the long view of any problem--they are all forced to be absolutely short-sighted to get re-elected by the mass of idiots we've become.

Yes. All republicans want the country to fail and slide into chaos. Very astute observation. We're all evil sonsabitches who will somehow profit from total economic collapse.

Could be that we freakin understand ECONOMICS and know you can't SPEND your way out of a freakin recession. DEBT is what got us INTO the problem in the first place. Debt and a huge run up in GOVT spending. And before you throw your excuse of BUSH at me, let me tell you that I supported very few of his policies. Esp over the last 3-4 years.

I think it's so amusing how many wingers suddenly protest about how little they supported the previous administration. Transparently funny. Enjoy your fail.

Oh I put some of this crap on Pelosi and Reid also. I just think if things haven't worked that well for the last 8 years under one party's leadership we should try something different. Bunch of crap really from both sides.

Mock all you want. Hubris will lead your party back to where it was earlier this decade. My position is that the republican party is far too liberal and that Bush was part of the problem and mainly to blame for the party's decline. I feel we would have done much better with Cheny on the top of the ticket instead of that mealy mouthed, wobbly soft nincompoop we had.

Again, it's funnier than hell that now the righties are all claiming that they hated Bush. I bet you had some of those W action figures, Tip, didn't you? You know, the ones where he's dressed as a dreamy fighter pilot!

Liberals are increasingly Orwellian and it makes it quite a challenge to enter a dialogue with them. That's unfortunate.

I agree rad...and it's awfully easy for us to judge even though there is no way we can put ourselves in the shoes of POTUS. I can't imagine that kind of responsibility after hearing the first intelligence briefing.
Okay, let's try this!
