It would be interesting to see a comparison of how the mainstream media announced Bush's victories in 2000 and 2004.

I realize that it's a more historic occasion that an African-American (yes, a literal African-American) won, but the media's coverage of this particular election was particularly egregious in its bias.

God, I fucking love it when the wingers start whining about how the "Matt Drudge Rulz Our World" mainstream media is so biased against them. I remember when conservatives used to be tough and diss on the culture of victimhood. What happened to change you guys into such a bunch of whiny ass titty babies?

I think the major change is the expansion of the media in recent decades....the explosion of sources of information has made the bias clear whereas before it was limited enough to go unnoticed.

i would imagine that the world was not as embracing of W because he was deemed to be more of a war monger....having to defend a nation would subject you to that sort of criticism.

The world media has been in the tank for Obama since day one. If the slime of the Clinton machine couldn't hamstring the chosen one, how the hell would a republican?

Conservatives have been bitching about media bias since at least the '80s. I remember seeing bumper stickers that read, "CBS Rather Biased."

The fact is that the media IS biased and its cult-like fawning over Obama this election season made it especially obvious.

I don't read Drudge.

Is this the same MSM which McCain referred to as his "base?" The same MSM which cheerled us into war with Iraq?

Step your game up, wingers. That "librul media" complaint has become a crutch.

And Doc, the Drudge comment was a reference to a chapter in the book The Way to Win by Time Magazine's Mark Halperin and the Politico editor John Harris, two of the most mainstreamy of mainstream media types. The name of that chapter? "Matt Drudge Rules Our World." Your librul media at work.

Oh yea it was the MSM who cheerled us into Iraq....not blind patriotism across ALL spectrums and ALL parties.

Dood, I opposed going into Iraq on principal and facts. What does that have to do with patriotism? McClatchy's news service was the only outlet out there that did some real reporting into claims being made to justify invading Iraq by the administration. How much time did they get on the nightly news or cable?

How about the Scooter Libby trial, when VP Cheney's people took the stand and described how they flat out manipulate the MSM?

a1, you're referencing the media's incompetence - not their bias. I agree that there is damn little actual investigation going on, unless the target happens to be Sarah Palin's daughter or Joe the Plumber.

Yes, this must be the reason why we heard so precious little from the media about Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, flag pins, Michelle Obama's whitey moment (that video will show up any day now!), the "madrassa" Obama attended growing up, Greek columns, etc and so on and so forth. It's the bias at work.

Hey, I'm just trying to help your side out, just like I was when I said that Sarah Palin was a really bad pick as VP. The right now a days reminds me of what the left was in the 1980's--stuck on stupid, trivial, cultural arguments. Meh.

Reverend Fucking Wright. if the media was in the tank for obama, why in god's name would they constantly harp on it? what about bill ayers? how many people know that the only reason ayers and obama were on the same board was because they were both on the anenberg foundation, selected by anenberg (sp?), who contributed mightly to john mccain and was invovled in the regan administration.

the liberal media reported over and over about obstructionist democrats and repeated "up or down vote" as a mantra and the need for the "nuclear option". however, since january 2006, the "liberal" media just says that the senate did not get the "REQUIRED 60 VOTES TO PASS LEGISLATION". that's bias.

as i understand it, mccain's handlers wanted to bust out rev wright, ayers, and michele obama ads and mccain himself vetoed it.

If you call "cranky" frightened, fine. Liberalism is a direct threat to my family and my country. I don't give a shit if you want to hand the keys to our economy to yet another irresonsible tax and spend asshole, but you aren't going to get my cooperation.
I want a smaller government with personal responsibility. I have yet to see an option on the ballot that offers that.

Tell us please, in detail, how liberalism is a threat to your family and your country. Seems to me that you have digested too many right wing talking points.

Seems to me that W's mismanagment of this country will screw us up for years to come.

Please tell me that you are not one of these idiots that think that Bush is a good President and that the country is on the right path.

^ i will say this, since sep11, we've not had another terrorist attack occur on US soil...i know a buddy who's best friend is a higher up in NYC first response services...they investigate a lot of suspicious things and act accordingly...i know of things that were thwarted at several sporting events and one at a major hotel...things we've never heard of and nor should we.

i'm sure barry's gonna continue the hard work but in this regard, i think the outgoing administration did a good job of prevention.

I'm stunned by your inability to read, especially given that fact that you're a highly educated individual who has a degree in a field that prizes evidence.
Apparently, merely disagreeing with you makes me a "right winger". Then, in a petty attempt to force some sort of confirmation that your views of Bush are correct, you seek vindication through assumption. How wildly incorrect.
I've been horrified by the spending and waste that is the signature of the federal government. I see the effects of this irresponsibility. I see no change whatsoever in the next administration...in fact, given that Obama is a solid collectivist, it would be irrational to think that the federal government would spend less.

And just to be clear, are you seriously telling me that you know what is better for my family than I do? Are you that arrogant? Or an elitist? I feel comfortable examining the facts of our economy and determining what type of government is best for my family and the United States.
Are you saying you're smarter than me? Maybe so. Are you saying that because I disagree with you about liberalism that you know best? If that is your assertion, then are you saying that dissonance about liberalism is not allowed? I thought that liberalism was inclusive.
What exactly are you saying?
I don't understand.

It's like the Dims don't realize there was a fucked up federal government before W. slidey, buddy, do you have any clue how long this shitty economy has been brewing? Seriously man, it goes back much further than W and it belittles your intellectual capacity to reduce our problems to WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW all the time. But I get it. You got that drilled into your head throughout the Dim campaign and it won it for y'all....I'm just sayin, it hurts your credibility with thoughtful and reasonable people. It's been fucked for at least a hundred years.

wow. when all else fails, blame some the media. and when that fails, preach on about liberalism and how it ruined society.

i hope that the dems give the big middle finger to republicans, for 6 years, the dems could not introduce one bill into congress, for 6 years, the dems were NOT ALLOWED into meetings regarding reconciliations between house and senate versions of passed legislation. the 'liberal' media didn't report on this. but you know what, the democrats in power now are bigger men than i am. and i'm sure the "liberal" media will be all too willing to broadcast left and right all the perceived wrongs the republicans think they are getting.

annarbor - i can not read your post if you refer to dems as "dims".

The point is this is just another distraction used by TPTB to keep the vast majority of people from ever even looking deeper for the real truth.

urap, If I come up with an equally offensive term for your "opponents" across the aisle can I continue using the term above? That's fair, right? You can even come up with the term.

It's nothing personal about any Obama supporters, it's more about the sheeple across the board that create our largely ignorant (at worst) or (at best) misguided populace.

why would you want obama to give the pubs the middle finger for 6 years?? he wants to 'unite the divide' and got elected promising that.

apart from that - obama will have every opportunity to fix what has gone wrong 'the last 8 years' considering the dems run the legislative branch....it's actually scary for both parties...the fact that obama and his party will be unchallenged by the pubs is scary for the pubs for obvious reasons....scary for the dems as well imho....scary in that the expectations are set high and anything less than 100% achievement could be looked at as failure.
