Concur with Doc, but realistically, I just hope he doesn't do irreparable harm. He'll have all the means with which to do it.

CONGRATS TO THE BA's OBAMA SUPPORTERS!

I haven't said much up until this point about my feelings regarding the election. I consider myself independent and I waited until both candidates chose their running mates before I made my choice as to who I was voting for. I chose Obama, and I am extremely hurt by the amount of criticism I received for my decision from both friends and family members. It's fine if you don't agree with who I stand behind, but it doesn't give you the right to insult me, or anyone else for that matter. Voting for Obama doesn't make me any less intelligent. It doesn't make me a lesser Christian. And it certainly doesn't make me un-American. In fact, it makes me VERY American to be able to stand up and say, "I voted. I voted for the next president of this country and I chose someone I believe in, not someone who people told me to vote for."

We tend to forget how many people in this world do not have the ability to voice their opinion or vote for their country's leader. So today, regardless of who you voted for, feel blessed. Feel blessed because you have free will, freedom of speech, and the freedom to elect your country's president. A lot of people in this world have voices that are never heard.

Here's to hoping that all voices are heard in the next four years. Katie, I feel the same as you and I often was made to feel like an idiot for my choice...and I had the opposite choice from you!

Congrats for the Obama family and especially to his two little girls that are going to get a new puppy!!! I bet they are happy!
Okay, let's try this!

Well said, Kate.

I see John McCain as a leader of great honor, and I am sorry that he had to lose this. I hope he and the two parties in Congress can bring about an era of creativity, invention, expediency, fiscal good sense, dialogue, compromise, respect. The bickering in our national legislature has been juvenile and destructive. The nation has its back against certain walls right now. It would be nice if its left and right fists could fight together.

well said all.

i've watched and read a lot about this particular election...moreso than any other in the past...moving forward, i am eager to see how he governs the nation...it seems to me that pres-elect obama will have a difficult road ahead...it seems to me that he will be conflicted every step of the way...with being the first, and more than likely the benchmark to which future candidates will be judged upon, his success in achieving his mandates are critical...mandates such as uniting the divided, going after bin laden/pakistan, and tax cutting just to name a few will be closely watched....having said that, there will be immense pressure from the side that "got him here" to follow through with that sides policies, interests, and priorities.

here's to peace, unity, and prosperity.

You know, this sounds cheesy, but I felt the same way when I was standing in line waiting to vote. I suspected that 99/100 of the other folks who were there with me were going to vote for "the other guy," but I was excited to be there with them.

America is awesome!

Here's to the United Fists of America, pummeling our enemies with ruthless and extreme prejudice!

p.s. Don't GIS for "American Fists" with Safesearch off. Trust me.

Thanks Rad. I am truly ecstatic, elated and overjoyed at these results! I will comment on some of the other threads later as I have actual work to do today.

But let me tell you - the victory party I went to last night was incredible!

I want to congratulate the African-American community for proving racism is still alive and kicking. Great job. From what I hear, 90% of African Americans polled voted for Obama.

I wonder what would be said about the white population of this country had it gone 90% McCain?

Yeah, but come on, tex. 85-90% of black voters vote democrat anyway.

I suspect that a lot more of them voted this time, though, due to (1) :obama: being black; and (2) get-out-the-vote drives.

It's not racism if you're black. Only if you're of European descent. Fucking hypocrisy.
