can this happen?
assuming we win out and presumably beat an undefeated bama in the SECCG, can texas get the nod over us?
first off, tech, osu, and okie all have to play each other....it's reasonable to think that between those stretch of games, each team win 2 and lose 1 essentially taking osu and okie out of the conference game and championship game.
texas has to play an unranked kansas and the always tough aggie game...both games are expected wins...
the way i see it, texas doesn't have to even play in their championship game to go to the NC...the big12 south winner, let's say it's tech plays the north (missouri/kansas) and loses...missouri likely will represent the big12 in the BCS and texas can still get the nod no?

A one loss Texas could jump us. I certainly could see that happen, but they would have to win their conference. If we win out and beat a #1 Alabama then I don't see any way we couldn't be in the BCS NC game unless both Texas Tech and Penn State both win out. We really need Bama to win out to have a chance IMO. If they lose at LSU this weekend then it could be difficult to get there.

A week later --
I think, unless there's unanticipated carnage, you gotta expect the Big 12 champ in the BCS championship game. But only one team from the Big 12. I find it hard to believe they'd take two.
The one-loss team that UF has to worry about is USC. But we play three ranked teams between now and bowl selection time: South Carolina (so happy they got ranked so I could say that), Florida State (ironically, hoping for them to win until we play them), and Number One 'Bama. (Citadel: shit, it would be better for our chances if that were a bye.)
But USC: 5-5 Stanford, 5-4 Notre Dame, 3-6 UCLA. Watch USC beat each of these mediocre teams by 38 and claim that they're the most dominant team in football as the season ends. No West Coast team has made the BCSCG since '05, so reporters out there are gonna be itchy to crown USC.
There's no reasonable way they pass us, but college football ain't reasonable. Ask the 2004 Auburn Tigers.

Brad Edwards, he is the BCS know-it-all, was on ESPN radio a few days ago and was asked about USC. He said it would take about four or five teams losing for USC to get in. The computers hate them.
If I had to guess right now I would say Texas/UF no the national title. I think TT loses a game and we win out and that is your national title game.

I could see Texas losing to Mizzou and OU being the highest ranked team from the Big 12.

I forgot about that. For some reason I didn't think they had played.

We have to bury those motherfuckers from Florida State. You know they're hanging their entire season on beating UF.
And that stadium has bad juju in it. I'm gonna be edgy until that thing is over. We lose to Bama, fair enough. Not FSU.

That stadium HAD bad juju IMO. Just because of one game. I'm pretty sure that Ron Zook helped exercise those demons.

If Oklahoma beats TT, they may jump Texas...then they would play for the BigXII title...and if they beat Mizzou...they would play us (assuming we win out)^^You think Texas loses again?
