I thought I'd share it with you all also.
I heard Les Miles speak last night at a Tiger Athletic Foundation function here in Jackson, MS. A buddy of mine invited me, so I thought, "Eh, what the heck. I'll go and get a free dinner." He was a pretty good speaker when up on stage, but when he walked around beforehand and the fans were surrounding him, he seemed on edge. He's definitely got a little bit of crazy in him, which suits him well in Louisiana. Anyway, here is a summary of what he talked about. I hope y'all enjoy these tidbits.
-Said Flynn/Hester/Dorsey really took over the team last summer and developed the character that it takes to win.
-He had no doubt that they would be faster and better than tOSU in the title game.
-Because of the SEC schedule they didn't worry when they got down 10 to tOSU. Said that tends to happen in the SEC.
-When asked who would be the QB this year, his response: "We know who it's NOT gonna be."
-Said RP's time ran out, that he had all the chances in the world and wouldn't clean up his act. Hopes he makes the most of his next opportunity because and he wishes him well on his future endeavors.
-Said Patrick Johnson can come in and compete for a starting spot.
-Said his two defensive coordinators will run the same defense, which will benefit the veterans because they won't have to learn anything new.
-Said App. State won't sneak up on them.
-Said the worst road game they've played in his tenure was at Florida, and that they are looking forward to coming to the Swamp and playing well there.
-Last play of the Auburn game, their strategy when they called the play was to have two chances to score. Said the play was called with plenty of time, but Flynn used the time inappropriately. He wanted to run the clock down. The plan was to throw that pass, and if it was incomplete still have time left to kick a field goal.
-He had very high praise for our troops in Iraq from his visit there.
-He was asked if there was another Hester on the team. He said Hester really shined when it was his senior year, and that he's hoping one of his backs will step it up and take command like he did last year.
Well, I hope you all find that informative. I felt like a spy being there, and I wish there were some juicy things to tell, but it was kinda boring. I did look over and give my friend a little smile when Les talked about wanting to play well in the Swamp. OH, I also took a picture with my friend in front of the BCS trophy. I crossed my arms and gave the trophy a one-handed Chomp right before the picture was taken. I'll post it if I ever get it.

Was Les drinking water as he spoke? Whenever I think of Les, I'm reminded of his debut game with LSU against Tennessee and how he just kept drinking water feverishly as Tennessee came back on them.
