Preston Parker Confirms He Is a Nole

In case anyone had doubts.

Wide receiver Preston Parker's future at Florida State is in doubt after he was arrested Tuesday and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana.

According to a probable-cause affidavit released by Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., police, Officer Shane Burns searched Parker's Dodge Charger and found 4.81 grams of marijuana, some of it stored under the dashboard alongside a .45-caliber automatic handgun. Burns had approached Parker after becoming suspicious of how Parker had been driving the vehicle.

The marijuana charge is a misdemeanor but the gun charge is a felony, which could put Parker's future at the school in jeopardy, based on athletic-department policy.

Parker, 21, the team's most valuable offensive player as a sophomore last season, was released on $5,000 bail.

TALLAHASSEE — Tuesday's arrest on gun and drug charges isn't the only legal problem before Florida State wide receiver Preston Parker. According to Assistant State Attorney Jackie Fulford, that arrest violated terms of a diversionary program he entered for a 2006 petty theft arrest in Tallahassee and now he will be prosecuted for that.

eh, he had some dope. of course you add that and the gun and the fact that he was already in a diversionary program, well that just doesn't speak to good choices.

since it hasn't been said; i'm sure bobby's praying for a misdemeanor so he can get him in shape by running stadium steps.

What a freakin' blow to that program. They are coming in with questions at QB, huge questions on the OL, the whole academic suspension thing, and Bobby's tenuous grasp on reality.

Now you are going to take their Percy Harvin away. That kid can play. Sucks for them.

This was news to me...Bill just said he told me about it, but I don't remember. He was the only thing they had going for them. Bill went to their coaches clinic and their OLine coach was chatting with Bill and his dad and admitted they sucked...he said he would trade any one of their 5 star recruits for any of UF's 2 or 3 stars...or walkons for that matter. LOL

Typical. Parker will be suspended for the first two games of the season, which, of course, are against cupcakes. I'm sure we're all shocked at this.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)—Florida State receiver Preston Parker will have to sit out the first two games of the 2008 season after pleading guilty Monday to two misdemeanor charges.

The 21-year-old Parker, the Seminoles’ most versatile player last season, was arrested in April on a felony charge for allegedly having a loaded .45-caliber pistol in the dashboard of his car. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

At the time of his arrest, Parker was also charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession, to which he also pleaded guilty in Palm Beach County.

“Preston made a very serious mistake, and there are consequences when one of our boys gets in trouble,” head coach Bobby Bowden said in a statement. “Preston will have the opportunity to continue as a student and as an athlete at Florida State, but he will have to earn that right.”

Parker will be a junior in the upcoming season. He is set to sit out games against Western Carolina and Chattanooga, and return to play against Wake Forest.
