I ain't wagering on it...

mostly because, if I recall...we're throwing Chuck James and something called Jair Jurrjens at you. Oh yeah, that and our bullpen sucks.

marlins are throwing andrew miller, who has a tendency to get shelled early in games then throw lights out. unfortunately, it's hard to overcome a 4 run first inning. i believe badenhop is going tomorrow for the fish. another rookie. i like his stuff a lot, reminds me of greg maddux how he approaches the game, he grew up in georgia and maddux was his idol growing up. (show's how young he is). and no, he's not as good as maddux, but i think he'll end up being a reliable starter.

I flipped back and forth between the Yankees game and the Marlins game last night. The Marlins have some impressive young talent.

they certainly have young talent. the whole thing rests on starting pitching though. i like our bullpen a whole lot, but if they have to consistently pitch 5 and 6 innings a game.....fortunatly, starters have been able to somehow make it to 5 or 6 innings for the past 2 weeks.

josh johnson, sergio mitre and anibal sanchez (the one who threw a no hitter 2 years ago) are all on the DL. mitre and sanchez should come back before the all star break. when they do, we'll get a big boost.

i think we're still a few players short of any playoff hope though. no center fielder and nobody to hit second behind hanley.

Yanks-27
Rays-24
Mets-12

Mets 12+16+5.5=33.5
Marlins=33

Much to my surprise, urap and the marlins erased the 5.5 spot in no time.

Proper order was restored to the baseball world last night. After a good try and making it 22 games, alas, Bobby Cox will not go an entire season without getting tossed.

Even though we didn't score any homeruns last night, it was happy times in the Tampa Bay area, as we clocked those fucking Red Sox right in the mouf on an extra innings walk-off base hit.

Guess who swept the Red Sox today and racked up another HR? I bet there were some beautiful looks on the faces of the Boston fans filing out of the Trop today.

the friggin braves have given the friggin nationals almost half of their wins (5 of 11) and they've managed to go 0-9 in one run games. So frustrating to watch. If they could ever figure out how to not collapse they could have a fantastic season.

Last night was the epitome of the season thus far. Go ahead 2-1 in the top of the 12th. Runners on 1st and 2nd, batter botches a sac bunt, hits it right back to the pitcher...who then promptly lets it roll right through his legs to load the bases. Then walks in the tying run, then an RBI single to end it. Disgusting.

I feel your pain. Although, the Yankees have had horrible luck in the injury department this year. The starting pitching is atrocious, sans Wang.
