Car Loans

Post by UFgirlfan07 »

I didn't want to hijack Josh's Wachovia thread, but Todd brought up a good point. Joey and I are obviously looking at buying a car. Any recommendations on where we should go to try and find a good car loan? We don't want our credit pulled too many times, so we would like to shop around as little as possible. I've heard AAA offers pretty good financing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A couple credit tips....

Pulling credit by a lender does in fact lower your score, so you are right to avoid lots of pulls. However, if you are going to buy a car, you are going to have your credit pulled 3-5 times just by shopping around. The scuttlebutt in the industry is that having multiple automotive pulls in a 60 day period counts the same as one pull.

This is educated rumor because the actual method of calculating your FICO score is a proprietary secret of the Fair Isaac Co.

Generally, your bank/credit union is going to be your best bet. AAA, USAA and other large membership groups offer decent financing as well. Capital One is a pretty decent lender online and you can try eloan.com as well.
