I don't think I've seen anything more comical in my life. Someone just posted a practice report in The Den and got a page full of replies containing "Rep" "Rep for you" "Mega rep" etc. Oh, this is so freakin funny I can barely stand it.

I had to poke Ray too, since he's now giving out Casino Cash for practice reports. I asked if there's any way we can have some rep to go along with the cash. I expect Growl will smack me down shortly. But this is so darn rich I can't even begin to describe how much I love the fact that this crap is biting them on the PAY BOARDS.

Hmmm... Nope, they got me. I was banned for "IP Mask." That tells me that they either have a list of known proxy servers that they check against or they are able to tell if someone is using a proxy. I even turned javascript off (there is a way to tell if someone's behind a proxy using javascript).

Every time I have tried it, they have caught me, no matter how crafty I am. There may not be any way around it. When I email them to ask for an explanation, they don't respond.

I think I'll take my wife's laptop to some place with free WiFi and register from there or go to the public library or something. They may only check on registration, first post or any post. But I haven't gotten past the registration stage yet so I don't know.

How long ago did you register? Back when I registered "DaJacker," I used Tor and posted both with and without Tor before the most recent purge.

How often do you post?

I would guess that they now check upon registration, upon first post and possibly on every post, depending on how anal they want to be.

It did, but then Growl called me a day or two later and apologized for being unfair and inconsistent and reinstated my account for Insider and sports forums purposes, but kept me banned from the pub, too hot, farkatorium, etc.

I completely agree. There should be a separate rep calculated for Pub posts. I want to see who is getting repped based on post content for things that are actually related to Gator sports rather than someone getting repped for talking about their favorite dish soap or whatever you folks discuss in the Pub for hours a day.

So, it MAY be that all they do is manually run a traceroute on new signups. If the traceroute indicates that a proxy from a foreign country has been used, they assume it's something nefarious and ban the user.

Of course, that may just be his idea of illustrating that I was hiding my IP, but I would think that he would've said something different if they were using some kind of automatic detection software.

it's gotten hard for me to read the den. i remember a time when i could go there and get solid info in most of the topics. now, however, most of it is "good report", "rep for you", "man lands on the moon".

i don't even post over there anymore. if anyone sees me post, it's one of my buddies who i gave my login to for the insider stuff.

yeah, the Den is terrible.

Of course, it is the offseason right now, and there will probably be more discussion right after the spring game or when football actually starts.

If it doesn't improve then I may never post on GC again.
