I was looking at offer lists by team and it's almost ridiculous on the breakdown of the number of offers compared to commits.

It's been a month since last years class was wrapped up and here's a breakdown of offers and commits for some of you guys programs and other top programs.

Texas 23- offers, 15 commits, 65% commit
Florida 57- offers, 2 commits, 4% commit
Nebraska- 30 offers, 1 commit, 3% commit
Oklahoma- 38 offers, 0 commit, 0% commit
A&M- 34 offers, 7 commit, 20% commit
USC- 31 offers, 10 commit, 33% commit

What does this tell us? Texas has to be very selective and do an excellent job of evaluating before offering or they will fill up in the first month.

It's the beginning of march and Texas only has probably 5 spots left open. I expect 4 of those spots to fill up with McFarland, Walters, Okafor, and Howell by the spring game (March 29).

Pretty crazy statistics.

any rebut that i can come back with that would shoot him down?

Texas gets the majority of its kids from in-state and has no other in-state power to compete with. Most kids there grow up wanting to be longhorns, so, when they get an offer, they commit. They just have to identify their top 30 and they'll likely get 20 of them and be almost done with their class...other schools have to do the real evaluation of hundreds of players to figure out which ones they want first.

Also, where is he getting this offer list from?

I highly doubt UF has 57 offers out already...not when we're looking at only having 18-20 open slots.

and if you're buddy comes back saying they have an in-state power in Tex. A&M, remind him UF has two A&M caliber schools or better (USF and UCF) plus having to deal with FSU and Miami.

There's no way we have 57 committable offers out right now. I'd say that number is well under 20...maybe less than 10.

sure...but we compete with Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame to name a few...

out-of-state competition will be a wash (or greater in the state of Florida). That's why I focused it to in-state.

Doesn't sound to be an honor to be offered by Florida by the

I'll send offer lists of Texas commits later.

I agree. I don't think those 57 kids have commitable offers. Maybe only letters of interest. IDK.

Hater's right. The difference between Texas and UF is culture and competition from other schools. Like Hater said, most kids in Texas grow up Longhorns. I would venture to say that of their 15 commits the majority are from the state of Texas. Alot of the kids on our alleged list are out of staters who I think we may be trying to show interest in to sway from their in-state school.

Texas has accepted commitments from 15 high school juniors, and he's claiming WE don't properly evaluate players? There are two kinds of offers, and most of them aren't of the committable variety (from our coaches, anyway). I guarantee you that at least 15 of the 57 players listed would commit if Coach Meyer allowed it/pushed them. That just isn't his style, and I'd bring up the 07-08 recruiting season to prove it. We only had three players committed before the football season began, and almost half of our commitments occurred after the high school season was over and our staff had the opportunity to evaluate the players to a greater extent--both on and off the field. Pffft...

Our staff has had a jump on juniors over almost every school (had a Junior day on the second to last recruiting visit weekend this year)...I assure you, our staff outworks Mack Brown's on recruiting and evaluating. Tell your Longhorn buddy to stuff it. If he thinks we just started right after NSD he is seriously misguided and it's really not even worth your time to argue with that level of ignorance.

they're starting to get all pissed with me...there's 4 of em...one is the dad, 2 are his sons, and one is my friend steve (he is their brother in law/son in law)...steve is a cornhusker.

what tipped the scales was me suggesting mac (and i purposely misspell his name) should start abandoning his strategy of concentrating on instate talent...they're proud of the fact that mac has made it his strategy from day one to ingratiate himself to all the high school coaches in an effort to get the skinny on all the high school talent first...i started talking about how mac should start looking out of state since his strategy was not working as well as they would like...i told them that mac could compete on the national stage if he wasn't so stubborn...they're furious now...LOL!

i'm fanning the flames by saying that UT and UF are in totally different markets...one is a national recruiter, the other is a regional one....the regional BEST keep the instates cause if he aint, his strategy aint working...the national recruiter has a broader scope...they're working hard nationally as opposed to regionally...they're fuming.

Keep up the good work.

If he thinks proper evaluation = having 65% of the spots for the class of 2009 filled before the class 2008 has had a chance to attend the senior prom, you're probably going to have a difficult time winning an argument (or even getting him to understand your stance) with the twit. Good luck.
