Am I reading you right that you're actually defending these fucktards?? The scholly players, IMO, have less of a choice. They accepted a scholly agreeing to do their part to help this team and they are backing off that committment. Best of...ah who am I kidding...screw 'em.

i think rad's just saying the choices open to the top scholly players (other schools) is a factor for why they would say fuck it and leave...don't think he's saying they are making good choices.

I'm surprised with the news about Williams...he's really been flying around on ST. As for the rest of them, well, HOLLA! Edit: Just to add, if all of this is true, we don't need a "Me" guy like Fayson on the team. Fuck 'em.
(Tipping a waitress) Here's fifty bucks; take this in case I get drunk and call you a bitch later.

thanks for interpreting AA - you get my gist
although i'll say - this offense and it's personnel is so deep that they can afford to act the way they wanna act with respects to getting playing time...that's neither negatively speaking or positively speaking...i guarantee you that if we needed those players, we wouldn't be as hardline as we were (as evidenced by showing fayson more touches to stay)
having said that - these athletes are doing what's best for them and i respect them for leaving....i respect ANYONE for leaving so long as they're not disruptive about it.
and to haters point about accepting a scholly...we don't know what was promised to the athlete in terms of playing time at the time of signing...we don't know who went bad on who...what we DO know is that the athlete is not satisfied and rather be a malcontent (that type of attitude spreads faster than wildfire), they have the MOXIE to try and give it a go elsewhere knowing that they're gonna have to sit out a year...i give anyone credit who seeks change and who seeks perceived improvement of ones situation...regardless if it happens to be right or wrong at the end of it all.

so if they leave and stay in I-A they have to sit a year correct? do they lose that year of eligibility as well? if you do, i'd respect them more if they stuck it out here for a chance as a junior or senior.
but if they do i hope they go quietly and don't try to sink the ship on the way out. if they leave with respect then good luck to them.

sitting out a year depends on UF granting their release, no? if UF grants them a release, they might not have to sit a year. not sure though.

agreed though he'd be a pariah and an outcast.I believe that even with the release, you still have to sit a year.
We usually give releases to everyone who asks to transfer. In Hornsby's case, maybe we should reconsider. Stick that in yer piehole, Jamar!
he'd do his best to fuck things up...especially with recruits and the like.

There is an SEC rule that says they have to sit out a year even if granted a release - if they transfer to another SEC school. I believe they may go wherever they want without penalty if they get a release and go outside the SEC.
I could be wrong.
The NCAA published a "transfer guide" in 2005-6, available here in PDF format.

Some highlights:
And, on page 11, I am proven wrong:Generally, if you’re now going full-time to a
four-year school and you want to transfer to
an NCAA school to play, your current
school’s athletics director must give written
permission to the new coach or member of
the athletics staff before you or your parents
can talk with one of them. That’s called
having a permission-to-contact letter.
You may write to any NCAA college saying
that you’re interested in transferring, but the
new coach must not discuss transfer
opportunities with you unless he or she has
received written permission from your
current school.
If your current school does not give you
permission, another school cannot contact
you and encourage you to transfer. This
does not preclude you from transferring;
however, if the new school is in Division I or
II, you cannot receive an athletics
scholarship until you have attended for one
year.
HOWEVER, there are exceptions (page 17), most of which won't apply (in fact, the most common exception doesn't appear to apply to Div. 1-A football, basketball or ice hockey). You must spend one academic year in
residence at your new school before you
are eligible to play.

They always have to sit out a year, unless they go to an FCS (DIV-II or 1-AA or whatever the hell they call them) team. If UF doesn't grant a release, it means they have to pay their own way and can't be on scholly.

Allegedly, Jarred Fayson and Harvin got into it and Harvin beat the crap out of him.
