Florida put the exclamation mark on the Seminoles' bewildering year with a 45-12 spanking Saturday. The 33-point differential is the most since a 53-24 whipping in Gainesville in 1983.

I kind of hate it when they do this.

Florida beat FSU by 33. That 1983 game is 29. So it's the biggest win since when? Longer ago than 1983.

Can't you guys do three minutes' more research and get the right answer?

that is a misprint toothy. The 1983 score was 53-14 (39 points).

direct misquote or terrible context...you be the judge...
And Bowden didn't want his players to remember the loss.

"I told them to look at that scoreboard up there and don't ever forget it," Bowden said.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Bobby Bowden brought in a new offensive coaching staff this season, but wound up with the same mediocre results.

And Florida put the exclamation mark on the Seminoles' bewildering year with a 45-12 spanking Saturday. The 33-point differential is the most since a 53-24 whipping in Gainesville in 1983.

"We've got our work cut out," Bowden said on his Sunday television show. "We've got to recruit. Come up with some [Percy] Harvins."

Harvin, the all-purpose Gator star hit the Seminole defense for 223 yards and a touchdown, but was just part of the problem.

Despite playing with a broken right hand for most of the second half, Florida's Tim Tebow embarrassed the Seminole defense. Tebow added another five touchdowns to his Heisman Trophy resume, finishing his season with 29 TD passes and another 22 running, personally accounting for more points than Florida State's team.

"They beat us in every area of the game," Bowden said. "I can't ever remember a game like that where we could not get the ball away from the other team."

The Seminoles lost four of their last seven games to finish 7-5 and unranked for the second straight year, managing just one win over a team with a winning record.

"I hope we're building for better times," Bowden said. "We're not happy with our record."

Sophomore receiver-running back Preston Parker, place-kicker Gary Cismesia and linebacker Dekoda Watson had solid seasons, but most of the Seminoles' returning players experienced disappointing years.

"Some of the things I thought could happen, didn't," said Bowden, who was optimistic beforehand about winning at Florida.

"I knew we were mighty big underdogs," he said. "Shoot, we couldn't even slow them down."

And Bowden didn't want his players to remember the loss.

"I told them to look at that scoreboard up there and don't ever forget it," Bowden said.
