LOL Doc! Yes, Sansa should have taken the chance to escape. I can only guess that The Hound now will meet a bad end.

Well, that was an interesting ending. Should I ask what those things were at the end? All I could think of was Walking Dead hoard. I assume the steward guy is toast?

OK, now that I have some time to process, for the readers of the books, can you please fill in some gaps:

Did the season play out like the books?
I am guessing that Robb getting married will come back to bite him in the ass. Catelyn seems to be the Cassandra character who is always right.

Man, Dany was pretty harsh at the end. Was it a spell that made it appear that everyone was dead? And what was up with the throne room and Khal Drogo - paths not taken or fantasys? I assume the book goes into more detail. Still don't see how Dany thinks she is going to take the throne with her 30 guys. Yes she has dragons, but they can be killed too.

Has Winterfell been destroyed? It sure looks that way. And what was the name of the Maestr that died? (Too dadgum many characters)

I felt bad for Tyrion - no credit for saving the city and demoted. I am surprised that Shae appears to really love him.

Man, Renly's widow is a social climbing wench. And Sansa's life is now expendable. She should have left with the Hound.

What is the deal with Arya's friend and the shape shifting?

Chemistry geek time - Stannis is a homologue of stannous, the periodic table name for tin, or a soft metal. Seems to fit. Does anything happen to him?

Interesting that Theon's men were so easy to give him up.

Were those zombies at the end, and is the steward kid dead?
Just thought I would ask
Well if you really want to know, I will try to answer.

Yes the season played out pretty much like the books. There were some minor changes, but the changes weren't devastating to the story. It helps that the author is pretty active in the writing and production of the show.

I'm using Tapatalk so its hard to do multiple quotes and spoiler tags, but I will do my best.
I am guessing that Robb getting married will come back to bite him in the ass. Catelyn seems to be the Cassandra character who is always right.
Yes, Robb forgetting his promise will have consequences. Catelyn is not always right, but she's right in this case.
Honestly I don't remember all the details about the House if the Undying, but it was filled with illusions and she had the dragons burn it down.
Has Winterfell been destroyed? It sure looks that way. And what was the name of the Maestr that died? (Too dadgum many characters)
Winterfell was burned in the books but the stone structure was intact so not totally destroyed. I think the Starks's maester was named Luwin.
I felt bad for Tyrion - no credit for saving the city and demoted. I am surprised that Shae appears to really love him.
Yep Tyrion gets no respect. I won't comment more because it might spoil you.
Man, Renly's widow is a social climbing wench. And Sansa's life is now expendable. She should have left with the Hound.
Margary is so tucking hot though. And Sands remains stupid.
What is the deal with Arya's friend and the shape shifting?
You'll find out.
Chemistry geek time - Stannis is a homologue of stannous, the periodic table name for tin, or a soft metal. Seems to fit. Does anything happen to him?
Hm. Never made that connection. All I will say is that he is still alive through most of the last book and his fate is uncertain at the end.
Interesting that Theon's men were so easy to give him up.
In case you haven't noticed, Theon isn't exactly a great leader. Its pretty obvious that he has no idea what hes doing. His men probably view him more as a Stark than as a Greyjoy.
Were those zombies at the end, and is the steward kid dead?
Haven't seen it yet so I can't comment although they probably were zombies ("wights" in the Westeros universe).

If you're interested now might be a good time to read the first two books. So far each season seems to follow one book. You might encounter some minor spoilers though. Its gonna be a long year until the third season.

If the steward kid you're talking about is Sam, then he's not dead. And Stannis will be alive in the sixth book. I read a sample chapter with him in it on George R. R. Martin's website.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the help. You're right - Theon is in over his head. Still, I thought his men would be loyal to him due to their loyalty to his dad.

Two other things:
Did Cersei hire one of the Lannister men to kill Tyrion? They mentioned it in the finale but I didn't see it in the battle episode before that.
And,
Is everyone in Winterfell now dead?
Yes, but keep in mind that the events in book six happen contemporaneously with the events in book five. And - seriously, slider if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read this -
in book five, Ramsay Bolton writes a letter to Jon Snow saying that Stannis was killed at Winterfell. The excerpt that GRRM posted is set BEFORE the battle. There is some speculation that Ramsay was lying in the letter, however.
The men on of the Iron Islands only respect power. And the men he got - remember the men on the single boat that his father gave him - were probably the lowest of the low. Real dirtbags.

I was watching one of the episodes I recorded last night. I recorded it on a free-preview weekend. Damn, the woman they got to play Breanne of Tarth sure fits the bill.
