One goes to NFL, Maurkice the center, and one stays, Mike the guard, according to Joe Schad of ESPN.

They are going to separate no matter what. They weren't going to end up on the same NFL team.

I don't understand - given how close they are, why would one go without the other? Are they hoping that next year Mike will get drafted by the same team? Any thoughts or info on this?

Could it have something to do with how their respective positions are viewed by NFL teams in the draft? Just wondering...Center seems a little more specialized but I've always thought interior linemen in general don't get much premium in the draft...maybe Mike, being a guard, was projected too low for him to jump? No idea.

You may be right - it just seems strange given how close they are. I think both of them are ready for the NFL.

http://www.theledger.com/article/20100111/NEWS/100119965/1410?tc=arCenter Maurkice Pouncey has decided to forego his senior season at Florida and declared himself eligible for April's NFL Draft. Mike Pouncey will stay at UF and make a switch from guard to center to drive up his pro stock in his senior season. {. . .}
Mike Pouncey's paperwork had him projected to go in the second to third rounds. He'll stay at UF and keep working toward joining his brother on the highest stage of football.
“I'm looking forward to being a leader on this team, having the opportunity to play center and continuing to learn from coach Steve Addazio. It has been an honor to play here, so I can't wait to run out into The Swamp for another year,” Mike Pouncey said in a release by UF.
Maurkice Pouncey said his brother's work at center will show NFL scouts he can be versatile and fill a team's need at more than one position.
“For an inside, interior lineman you have to be able to play both positions, so (he'll) come back and work at that,” Maurkice Pouncey said. “It helps out a lot when you're able to play two positions at the next level.”
