Whatcha readin'?

Right now, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. People say it's his best work, but it's a slog compared to The Road or No Country for Old Men. I'm about halfway through and I have no idea why I'm reading it.

Tell me your thoughts about the ending when you get there. I have some theories about The Judge.

The kid man got sodomized to death by the judge? Weird that he was naked for so much of the book.

yeah, I think he definitely sodomized the kid...but I also think he was some sort of vampire like creature....he stated a couple of times that he will live forever and he had the knowledge of someone that had lived multiple lifetimes...

He also didn’t seem to age and was completely hairless. Hmm… something funny going on for sure.

and he seemed devoid of any sympathy...like when he killed the infant...the others in his gang were even pissed about it...

Just started reading Metro 2033. Apocalyptic shit with irradiated monsters and gun fights set in Russia.

Finished up Metro 2033 and I Am Legend. There are short stories in the back of Legend. Then on to Moby Dick.

 No, but when I learn movies/shows were based on books I like to read them to get all the little details that couldn't go into screen adaptations.

I'm currently reading One Second After. It's about the aftermath of an EMP attack on the US. Pretty scary shit.

Just finished The Turquoise Serpent, by Alexander Palacio, a guy I follow on Twitter as @conan_esq.

Fantastic sword-and-sorcery book in the same vein as Robert E. Howard's Conan stories. Quick chapters, lots of action, not too long. Only $0.99 on Kindle. Enjoyed it very much.

Been listening too a Robert E. Howard collection. Couple Kull and Solomon Kane stories, and now into the meat of Conan. Very simplistic stuff so far, but he has a way with words. Right now it was just short stories/novelettes, but apparently the narrator says Conan stories get meatier when Howard switched to a longer format. Waiting for that.
