I didn't really expect to win, just hoped we would look competent. Mertz showed flashes, but we still keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

At this point I am only expecting to win against McNeese and Charlotte. Anything else is a bonus.

Well, if he's the guy that makes sure we have 11 players with different numbers on punts, he fucked up royally and fit his title. Get the ball back there and who knows what happens.

I was encouraged. Tough team at a revved up stadium. Ton of new guys. Nobody gave up. D was shutting them down when offence didn't give them a short field. Play one more quarter and we beat them.

Our WR's are a big upgrade over last year. Defense played differently than they have the last few years, we're more agressive, no Dean spectating tackles. Looked like the young guys were getting fooled a bit, but that's to be expected. Mertz looked pretty good. What aggravated me is the speed that we were getting plays in on defense and the lack of time awareness on offense. The slow plodding when we should have been going hurry up was there last year as well. BN needs a OC/Playcaller, I don't care if he has to lose one of the two o-line coaches. O-line is going to have to get it together quickly and fuck George, that dude cost us points. And fuck that shovel pass on 4th and short. Who runs a slow developing play in the teeth of the defense in a short yardage situation???

There are definitely some positive takeaways from this game. But it's frustrating to see some really questionable decisions and dumb mistakes that fall mainly on the coaching staff - it was a winnable game. Utah's not a pushover, but they aren't Georgia, either.
